This article says the Premier League sees no wrong in what Poll did - is that the same as the FA sanctioning it?

I'm all for it. In fact I think referees ought to be far more active in the game generally. There's nothing worse than a game when the referee doesn't get involved enough.

This will be the new football fad now - you watch - every manager will be at it.

I think it's outrageous that something like this should happen. We never benefitted from such a thing when Bikey was sent off against Chelsea and Sodje was sent off against Manchester United and also Sonko against Villa.

I also thought Poll made some dodgy decisions, such as when that Charlton player pulled Lita to the ground but Poll called the foul against Lita. Lita wasn't happy about it and Poll told him to calm down. Jeez, Poll is a Grade A twat.

Moan Moan Moan... Playing against 10 men does not win you games. Fact. Scoring goals on the other hand does. Fact. We scored 0 goals and that is what cost us the win. Get over it and get a life.

No, playing against 10 men does not win you games, true. However, it should make the job easier, an extra man to exploit the space.....

It's the impartiality of the referee that is in question here.

contrary to what the premier league is saying:
Referee Graham Poll's warning to Charlton boss Alan Pardew that Alexandre Song was close to being sent-off is set to land him in trouble. (Various)

Graham Poll's warning that Alexandre Song was close to being sent off in the Charlton v Reading match was an example of good communication between officials and teams, according to the Premier League.

However, the controversial official might still be reprimanded for his actions.

Charlton midfielder Song escaped a second yellow and subsequent red card in the goalless drawat the Valley when he was substituted by Alan Pardew following Poll's warning.

And the Premier League have highlighted such dialogue as an example of communication during matches.

A spokesman said: "Communication between referees and players, management and the crowd as a whole is beneficial and an every day part of the game."

But Poll might be asked to explain his actions to the Professional Game Match Officials Limited, who are in charge of referees in England. They are understood to have expressed concern about his actions.

Song, who has been on loan at Charlton from Arsenal, had been shown a yellow card for a rash challenge on Steve Sidwell during the first half and when further challenges put him in danger of a second caution, Poll's warning prompted Pardew to replace him with Kevin Lisbie after 69 minutes.

Why didn't Poll just give him the second yellow card? He would still have been on the pitch until he showed him a third one.

I'm glad that the PGMOL still has standards and ethics that they expect their officials to comply with.
