AthleticoSpizz Steve Sidwell could've obtained a career-ending injury this past (and successful) season. His lack of a contract could've left him without much of a future.....and even less cash.

I never saw Steve bottle a challenge (although admittedly, his bookings per game rate fell this season)

I concurr with Woodcote however, he is overrated...and bulled up by the national press

But (by nature of the title), you meatheads, this is an APPRECIATION thread

find your own link to the (many) scornful ones

Totally my sentiments, would we be in the premiership without his 4 years of service. Good luck

Gilksey
Smoking Kills Dancing Doe Sidwell is responsible for us being a better team. I think Harper's technically better than Sid, but no one is saying he's a better player.

Harper is a better player than Sidwell.

Harper isn't even better than me.

Good luck at Chelsea SS if that is where you end up, I for one will keep an eye as always like to see ex Royals do well in the Prem.

Top Prem season was when Taylor Shaka and Osborne were all up there after moving on from us.

what I want to know is, are we getting any decent money for him?

Will we raid one of the relegated clubs? Wigan do have good midfielders (eg that Austrian hard man). Alternatively, I thought Southampton's Suran looked good yesterday (attacker).

If he had been 23 rather than 24 we would have got something but we won't.

Anyway, thanks to Steve for 4 great seasons as a key part of the midfield of the most successful team in Reading's history. The partnership with Harper is one of the main reasons we are where we are.

Don't think Chelsea's the best place for anybody to go unless they are a "superstar" but all the best for all bar two games next season.

They were never in the premier league at the same time. QPR were relegated in 1996, whilst Leicester were promoted that year.

Enjoy the Carling Cup games Sid. At least now you earn enough money to support your wife and kids.

Rot on the bench somewhere you t****r. Thought you were nothing more and average and the most over rated player to ever wear a Reading shirt.

Thank you for your time at Reading Sidders, and enjoy your spell in Chelsea's reserves at £50k per week.

Many thanks to a model professional who was a big part of getting us here.

I hope the move works out for him. I'd love to know how many posters would NOT change jobs for double their current wages.

You can't make that comparison. If you doubled my salary I would be earning in a year what Sidders will take home in a week.

If I was earning £20k per week I would like to think I would choose my job over my finances.

And he has officially gone.
