meeky_no9 So will hunty get near Cech this time as it is so close to the start of the season ??

Hopefully he'll go to Bolton so we won't have to see him let our team down. I would much prefer Convey swinging in a corner to Kitson's head that day

Dirk Gently
Spirit of Elm Park ...so what happens if..

..the Prem reinstate Sheff Utd after arbitration and increase the prem to 21 teams?

Do they redo the entire fixture list?

Won't happen, but interesting thought?

I was at a presentation from the fixtures compilation committee. As far as they are concerned it is impossible for there to be a 21-team Premier League using the criteria for fixtures used for this season.

Wouldn't fancy being a Hammer next week then :?

Derby for random inflatables 6 should be good, especially if we're safe and they are fighting for survival

Mrs D is due to drop 2 days before the Utd game, is it every mans right to miss the birth for a season opener? Is a punch in the guts week commencing 6th Aug acceptable behaviour? Clearly it would be a trailing arm ala Jan Wouters, no blame attached...

Why? There is not a chance on Earth of them being relegated now

I think there may be a slightly higher chance than that TBH.

I'm sure they are worrying.

West Ham cannot be relegated. The arbitration panel does not have the power to do that I believe.

And anyway can you imagine the court cases if they do relegate them.

Lets put it this way, we'd be lucky if we see our football season start on August 11th.

Exciting start! Looking forward to it as that's what we're here for. May be a blessing in disguise that we have them up first as it'll take them a while to gel with their new players and also we'll be missing Sonko when we need him more for games against lesser teams. Can't wait for the season to start (as long as we bring in a couple between now and then), bring it on!

I take your point entirely and agree, but that would mean arbitration is totally pointless? Surely Sheffield feel that there is a reinstatment available?

But SHeff U being reinstated and West Ham being relegated are two different things.

They must feel there is a point to all but I personally don't. They may end up getting some financial recompense but that'll be about it.

Don't hi-jack the Reading Fixtures thread talking more about this.

Man Utd and Chelsea first two games!

Our season starts after those two then.

EDIT: Very good chance of a winning streak after that though! :P

The past two seasons I've gone from being ultra optimistic to ultra pessimistic about Reading's chances, but then in both seasons we've gone on to have a stormer.

As that seems to work, I'm going to predict relegation along with Wigan and Derby.
