Man Friday
Geekins
Woodcote Royal I'd have backed Nugent to score a hattrick with the chances Leroy missed on Saturday.......................

Not if you are a Pompey fan  He did a typical Savage / Brooker moment where he was running into the box one on one with the keeper in the Carling Cup and tripped over his own leg and the ball went rolling into the keepers hands. No one was ever near him at the time.

And again last night V Bolton.

When did Man City buy him?

readingbedding Where on Earth did this come from?

Every touch, every mannerism, every move, every jump seems specifically designed to look good to his mates rather than to play the percentages within his (rather limited) skillset.

This is not a clear recollection of Leroy playing football, it's not true at all.

It's as if you're describing a Sunday football park player, not a Premiership footballer.

Simple unbiased observation, that's all.

It's depressing that someone can spend so much time on a football website and even think their views are unbiased !

If you are unbiased then you are not wanted here....

Personally I think it's pretty valid comment on the way that Leroy plays.

Just because it's not the same view as you doesn't mean it's not true.

Is there any other player that does this to your knowledge or is it just Leroy?

Does what?

Which other players are being talked about on this thread?

I'm just wondering whether this applied to any other footballer or whether this was unique to Leroy.

Such an absurd comment

Makes him sound like a robot, designed for show!

Anyone that has ever laced a pair of boots and played the game at any level knows that when you play it's your own unique style, you can't artificially create the way you play which is what it sounds like is being suggested.

And Lita's own unique style is what?

The way he plays. The way he runs, the way he can do certain things no others in our team can.

In the same way that Long can run the quickest, but at the same time looks like he's shit himself when he's running.

He doesn't do any of it to 'show off to his mates' It's a ludicrous view.

No it's not unique to Lita.

I'm prossibly not taking RR's comments to be as literal as you are. As ever there is some poetic licence for dramatic effect.

Generally I agree with the point about Lita sometimes playing to look good rather than playing to do the best for his team. This might not be something he does conciously, it might just be his 'style.'

So there is no point in having coaches?

You are of course wise not to take it too literally. I did say "...seems designed to look good to his mates..." which is subtly different to the interpretation placed on my comment.

Still, as ever I am pleased to have flushed AP out of hiding! Always entertaining.

Of course you have coaches to work on your game but what you are given can't be coached. The way you run, jump etc is what you're given.

I find this all very funny, that this is because he missed 2 chances. That's all. Missed two chances to score and now suddenly all this. Had he put them away, ran away to celebrate, cartwheeled, took his shirt off, revealed a message 'for my buddies that saw me nail that tart on my phone' and none of this would have been said.

If you read back, my comments are nothing to do with his missed chances, just his inability to get the ball under control when he has the opportunity, and some of the decisions he makes during games.

That's obviously incorrect as well.

Coaches completely remodel the way a fast bowler runs and bowls, likewise sprinters have their running action worked on and changed for maximum effect.
Football clubs employ specialist sprint coaches and will work on any aspect of a player if it can be improved.
If you put a player on a big weights programme they will bulk up and change the way the run/ move, or if you slim them down they will change.

In amongst praise for his good work I have been saying similar things about Mr. Lita for the last year or more actually, not just after 2 misses on Saturday.

He has missed more absolute sitters than any Reading striker I can remember.

The fact he is in the right place often enough to miss loads is a damned good sign of course, but if his instinct was simply tap it home rather than to pose whilst doing it he could truly be international class by now.

 trying to pose while put it in?? Is he on his knees showing off his big muscles when he's trying to put the ball in the net then??!
