To all those people that slag us off at the moment, maybe you should try starting REAL conversations about football in the pub rather than an internet message board. I think you will find that your drivel is not listened to. just my opinion but if i am wrong then you wont find me hiding behind my key board.

On a general basis though, Oster always makes mistakes, Hunt does but fewer.
People are making an awful lot of assumptions based on one game.

That is because Oster actually tries to do something out of the ordinary, compared to Hunt who just runs into players all day

Hunt has been a great servant to the club, but he has been found out at this level, and if an offer of over 3m comes in for him, then we should laugh all the way to the bank

winch... don't take this personally, but you're a wnaker. There, I feel better.

Hunt to be sold for 3 million

Fae to start against Newcastle

Hunt hadn't trained all week and you can be sure he will want to put the miss right at Newcastle.

I think it's been made pretty clear before that I'm not Oster's biggest fan, but I thought he was one of our better players yesterday.

On the other hand, Hunt had an abysmal game.

careful, I'm watching you for OTT negativity Platypuss, remember.

Not found any yet (since last week). This last post is far more reasonable than the thread opener.

This thread, to be perfectly frank is just another example of what is wrong with this forum. It is full of muppets who clearly don't know their arse from their elbow, and to use the infamous american political term 'flip-flop' at any given chance. Ok, maybe full of is harsh - there's plenty of you with good views, but the usual hanfull of whingers.

It was only 2 months ago this forum could do nothing but sing Hunt's praises and look on with sheer disbelief that Roy Keane would dare to put in a bid for him.

Hunt has been quality this year. I'll still take his performances, good and bad, and don't think Convey would have offered anything better this season. There isn't another player in the team who works as hard for the team as Hunt does, and he is a huge reason that we are climbing out of the relegation fight - he never gives in, and works his arse off.

Reading fans never cease to amaze me. All this forum does is find someone to focus their energies on, and victimise them. And god forbid anyone have a memory that stretches back more than a few games.

Coming to HNA? soon: another thread in a few weeks when Mareks had a few bad games calling him crap, and then one for Bikey, and then one for Rosenior, and then a "we're going to get relegated" thread after we (probably) lose to the Arsenal, and then a Coppell out thread, before the summer when all we will get is bitching about our transfer policy.

Because of course only Reading fans do this - it doesn't happen at any other club.

This kind of ridiculous negativity really annoys me. :|

For some of us who live away this is the equivalent of a conversation in a pub.

Spot on. A lot of comment is so knee jerk without thought or explanation.

Alan Partridge Utterly atrocious footballer.

That is all.

And allegedly now our highest-paid player.
We have been saying this for months AP and now at least some are seeing the light.
The shame is that there are no challengers for his position.
As in the days of Andy Hughes (another player who prompted reactions that were poles apart)we are doing o.k DESPITE Hunt not because of him.
Who knows,if we had a decent left winger or left-sided midfielder we might not have had a relegation battle at all.
BTW a very important and well deserved point today-it could even have been 3 points but the result (bearing in mind Marcus' excellent performance) was about right.

I know this doesn't prove anything, but he is our second highest scorer this season.

You are right-it doesn't prove anything.
Bikey has scored more goals on a games played/goals scored ratio and he is a centre-back.

Beelzebub
Beelzebub From Yahoo sport about todays game...

Hunt, more than any Reading player on show, appeared alert to his side's predicament. He worked feverishly, and linked superbly with Dave Kitson

another half minded idiot impressed by someone's ability to run around a lot with no footballing talent.

Read my post again. I just stated what Yahoo sport came up with, not my opinion! :x

I was referring to the Yahoo writer and not yourself.

LUX Thank God for Stephen Hunt. AP wtf has happened to you this season?

OK he is not Ronaldo, but we are (sort of, often with luck etc etc) safe-ish now and yet you are still unremittingly and humourlessly negative.

Have you got a girlfriend?

Just saying what i see, Hunt for me has been our worst player for the last 5 or 6 games and yesterday was utterly shambolic.

and yes to the second bit.

Alan Partridge His passing - Fans team class

That's harsh AP. The old fans team were never that bad.

I have a lot of admiration for what Hunt has achieved on limited ability, and would never criticize him for sheer determination and hard work. Even today, he did very well to get into the position to be able to air-kick Long's pass. However, ultimately, I fear that effort alone can't compensate for a lack of basic footballing ability (at Premiership level) forever.

That said, Hunt has been one of our most influential players this season and it therefore feels harsh to criticize him (what more could he do??); but if we are looking to 'make the step up' from premiership strugglers (note the 'if') then he needs to be replaced with a classier player IMHO.

You know the scene in A Clockwork Orange where they attempt to 'cure' Alex by sitting him in a chair in front of violent cinematic footage with his eyes clamped open? Perhaps Coppell and co should do just that with Stephen Hunt and a video of his three botched chances.

Perhaps they should also show the same piece of video to every other member of the squad as well to demonstrate how sheer hard work, supreme fitness, guts and determination allied to good reading of the game can carry you to positions where you have great opportunities to score on a regular basis.

Then tell them that even if their conversion rate is as poor as Hunt's they could still be the 2nd top scorer of the season.

TOTAL SHOCK at this thread.

I have never been a huge fan or hater of Hunt but today I defo made up my mind that without Hunt we are nothing.

This guy was INCREDIBLE against Blackburn with what he did for us and I'm just realising how precious he is.

- The one player who would make things happen out of nothing

- The one player who's always there when you need him

- Lost count of the number of clever one-twos he pulled off and the attacks he created

- Amazed at his fantastic ball control and instant decisions

- Hugely impressed by his almighty run from nowhere to get all the way into the box for Long's cross (see above re: always being there)

I can honestly say that for the first time I definitely know why this guy's name is on the first team sheet every game.

And I'm happy I at last agree with one of the best managers in the country.

That is all.

The issue of how many isn't the point; the point is that he is important to the team, whether you like it or not.

The thing that really saddens me is the complete loss of credibility AP has suffered with the starting of such a thread.

It's a sad world.

This season of struggle has been one for sorting the strong from the weak and a number seem to have cracked under the pressure of it all, fortunately more supporters than players from what I have seen.
