TVPRoyal Hunt wasn't in the Dundee Utd squad for tonights friendly and according to the Dundee Footymad board they think he's had a medical tonight and is "away" !! http://boards.footymad.net/mboard/fmb.php?tno=196&fid=101&sty=1

£750,000? oxf*rd hell!! a squad that plays Warren Feeney up front must be awful!

You guys should really see what happens.

Coppell does have a pretty good record with strikers.

And I'm with Joe I'm happy to be signing someone.

He has to be better than that useless rusty-pubed bell end.

Gotta laugh or you'll cry. £5.5million in, we haggle over £750,000 for another short striker who I would seriously doubt is much better than we currently have.

It's interesting to see who he's scored his goals against.

Once you take out cup games he scored 13 goals 34 starts. He scored once against the Old Firm, and a brace against Motherwell who eventually finished 3rd in the league. The rest of his goals came against the remaining weaker sides in the SPL who all conceded a fair amount of goals. He also only scored in three away games where you presume goals a bit harder to come by.

I'm not convinced his record warrants a move for him, but he could be a hell of a player all the same. I seriously doubt it though.

DUNDEE United are considering a third bid from Reading for the services of striker Noel Hunt.

Hunt missed last night's 3-2 friendly win at Dunfermline through injury. Manager Craig Levein said: "They have made a bid, it is under consideration."

Mooney does looks more of a prospect than Hunt IMO.

If Hunt does sign will that be it for strikers? None above 5 feet 10? :|

600k is the offer now according to the Dundee Courier, so looks like we're trying to get another bargain by adding 100k each time they say no to the last bid - don't you just love the ambition being shown here.

Other clubs try to do a bit of mix and matching with a few unknowns and proven names while all we ever do is pursue people who need to get to know the game and/or country/language at whatever level we're playing with a view to them looking the part in a year or two.

No doubt Hunt 2's arrival will seal Hunt 1 staying with the club - shame Kitson and Little didn't have brothers we could sign.

Although I appreciate people's concern, let's face it, we had the same concerns and mardy statements when we signed Kitson.. a no one.. Doyle.. a no one from the Irish league.

My main concern is that he shares genes with Stephen Hunt. Which means quite likely he is unable to pass the ball anywhere intended and run around a lot! Although it is strange if he is as short as you lot say he is, why we are signing him when we need a big man! As I said in the Kitson tribute thread, Coppell really did not want to sell Kitson and has planned to lose Doyle and / or Lita... Maybe this is just the target he had in mind based on that assumption?

'greed. Can't possibly see the point of signing another shorty. According to wikipedia he only scored 8 goals in 80 games for Dunfermline. I've been excited about the prospect of actually signing someone, but this guy, on paper at least, looks to be a huge disappointment. Not sure what he's gonna bring to the team apart from being similar to what we've got.
