Archie's penalty
rg6royal Does Church play for the reserves or is he still in the under 18's?

He's on loan at Wycombe. He played for the reserves last year.

The OS says:

"Simon Church is back with the Royals after a red card brought an early end to his initial month's loan at Wycombe - but the deal is likely to be extended once he has finished Welsh u21 international duty."

So technically he is not on loan at the moment.
It will be interesting to see if any other teams start sniffing round trying to get him on loan, following his performances for Wales U21s.

Good luck to him - isn't it great to see the youngsters coming good.

Niko Church = the new Long?

From what I've seen he has a touch so no, not the new SL.

Wow.
Wales U21 Goals>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>England U21 Goals.
Simon Church needs to be pushing for that 3rd/4th placed slot in the squad if he's as consistent as he is with Wales U21s.

Lita scored 6 in 9 games for England U21 (playing with a bunch of players with loads of experience of top level football) and Church has 7 in 10 games for Wales U21 (playing with Ramsay and a few lower league reserves).

Shame neither of them can score in Domestic football but, having seen Church's composed and mature finish tonight, I know who I'd rather see coming off the bench for us later on this season.

As a point of note, I understand that Wales' U-21 squad has been together for a while. They may not play top-level football but they're meant to be a decent U-21 squad at the moment. Wales realised that the only way of succeeding was to get continuity from youth all the way to senior level and are starting, slowly, to see the results.

Church's goal looked pretty well takem from the clip - good run to lose the marker and a cool finish.

Church's goal for Wales U-21 away in Bosnia at 7.04. Sets up the goal at 8.05 as well.

There are interviews at the end with two Welsh players (who can speak Welsh) and Brian Flynn (who obviously can't). No subtitles though...

You would rather someone who has 1 league goal in his albeit short career? Fair enough. Staggering, but fair enough.

Just going on about three points being the important thing and the pitch being a bit shit.

If Lita gets his goal touch back then he would be a better option to start a game for sure, but coming on with 10-15 minutes left I'd rather see another home grown youngster who has shown real promise and is definitely on the up.

Where has he shown promise in club football? He's scored a couple of goals for Wales against England u21's, Lita was voted in the team of the tournament at the same level playing against some of the best youngsters in Europe.

If Church starts doing the business at League 2 Wycombe then he MIGHT be worth considering later on in the season, as it is he can't get a game there.
