facaldaqui I meant the release clause was disruptive because it was an element in the contract that was beyond the club's control. So we had a month of uncertainty. If it were removed, the club could decide whether someone was for sale or not, and go from there.
Disagree, had there been an offer from Spurs of £3m then Hunt would have wanted to leave, in order to up his wages last season Hunt agreed to a release clause, of a similar value to what Sunderland were supposed to have wanted to pay, eg £5m.
What it does now mean is that we might get more, but only if more than one club are bidding, however i still cannot see the clause being removed. I can see it being in place this summer at least, and possibly not in the following transfer window, unless we are in the Prem, this new deal has to be right for player and club, why would the club sign away a good clause, unless they now think it is a bad clause, and pay more wages.
