tbh harper is reading captain for a reason. he may have performed badly on saturday, but who performed well!? i clapped harper when he was subbed off just for the fact he is a reading player. he may not be one of our key performers but he does contribute significantly to the team. coppell see's it, i see it. and if you think otherwise you can suck my dong

If it meant Harper not being in the team i would 'suck your dong'.

He needs to be dropped, maybe if he's dropped he will realise that he needs to play better. He obviously has the ability but he just isn't pulling his weight

brendywendy are hunt and kebe out of form, or were they marked out of the game, often by two players? Are harps and cisse out of form or were they up against 3 at cm again?

Actuallly, yes, all 4 were out of form. Marek and Brynjar were much better when on for Harps and Cisse. And Hunt and Kebe had a lot of poor touches only they can be blamed for, though the lack of support and link up from Lita compared to N Hunt doesn't help in that regard. That one I'm sure will be fixed next week.

I would venture Mr handbags "I've been to 235 first team games in a row" harris has probably seen RFC more than you have over the past two seasons.

I think Harper has been a great, consistent servant of the Club since arriving, however I really think it's time for him to step aside now.

Whilst the Bristol midfield bossed it on Saturday, he still didn't put the boot in or play any constructive passes. Matejovsky created more in 30 minutes than Harper has done for the last few games.

Matejovsky in for Harper next week please.

What's happened to Karacan? He looked very promising.

He played in those two early defeats at Palace and Ipswich
when I think we still had the relegation hangover but what strikes me is
when we did start winning it was big-time with big scores

6-0, 4-0, 3-0, 3-1 and a 2-2 at Ipswich (there was a 5-1 v Luton too)

He was energetic, keen, one tackles, passed well and scored. So we drop him?

2-4 Palace
0-2 Ipswich
6-0 Wednesday
2-2 Watford
4-0 Swansea
3-0 Wolves
3-1 Burnley

18-9

5-1 Luton

23-10

I think you meant Charlton, by the way.

He seemed to take a bit of time getting into games, and also tended to fade, but certainly did enough to be blooded more in my opinion.

Snowball, we lost to Charlton, not Palace. We beat Palace 4-2 remember?

'one tackles'.

That's quite terrific senile spelling.

don't know why people want karacan to come in for harper, he is not the right person to fill in at this crucial time of the season.

Bikey/Gunnar and Marek for me

And Marek CAN tackle i saw him kae 2 on saturday :D

Bikey or Gunnar? Which one? Confused thinking really, as they are very different players. Bikey could beat Gunnar in a race with his legs tied together, for a start.

And to say Karacan isn't right 'for this time of the season' is just a sweeping generalisation. He didn't let us down when he played before Xmas, and I'm sure he wouldn't now.

Awww, who changed the thread title?
That one word removed for "POSSIBLY NOT VERY GOOD" was spot on, imo.

RoyalBlue
Southbank Old Boy
RoyalBlue With the mention of Doobs I think you answered your own question. He is a player who leads from the front (or should that be back!) in a blood and guts way (literally) in the style of a certain Mr A Williams.

Did you ever see Adie play?

There styles are hardly comparable

I probably saw him play far more times than you. And if you care to read properly what I wrote, you will see that I wasn't comparing their playing styles but rather their leadership skills and their commitment to the team and club cause.

Bully for you

Not sure how you come that conclusion without knowing anything about me, but considering I probably saw about 75% of his games then you must be very proud of yourself

Still dont see the similarity with Williams really but there you go, perhaps you can explain it a little clearer for me

Obviously freedom of speech is not permissible on here - I could of thought of a lot worse than my original title ( and used references being bellowed from the stands on Saturday!) - I was only stating fact --will take it as a wrist slapping and not to do again - might hurt James's feelings

I still believe that James Harper has the ability but, for some reason (team tactics?) has changed his game.

Reading a report from 2003, I noted that he was a 'pass master', slotting through diagonal balls and splitting defences. For some reason, he now appears to prefer the 'safe' sideways or backwards pass. Come back the old James Harper!

In the Reading Chronicle today the headline on the back page was something like "COPPELL LEAPS TO THE DEFENSE OF HARPER" which made me gobsmacked.
I'll try and find a link to read the article, but it really made me begin to doubt Coppell.
He went on about how he had the chance to leave to 'Boro both last summer and the window just gone, but chose to stay.
Coppell also talked about his years of service to the club.

... it doesn't excuse his poor performances this season.
