Still don't see why the PL would have such a role, and I can't really see any benefit to it or any real fit to Coppell's career. As you say though, it's a typical jobs for the boys kind of thing.

I think he's a lot more likely to take some time off, spend some time with his family and then see what happens. Any paper talk of these other positions will more than likely be just that, paper talk.

I'd expect him to be back in a managers job by Christmas/Easter though.

He has not ruled out making a return.

He wants to spend some time watching other managers / coaches.

Madejski hinted that he would welcome Coppell back to the hotseat again in the future.
Coppell hinted that he would take the job if it was offered to him again in the future.

But for now, Coppell needs a break and to continue his football education by watching other managers closely and Madejski needs a new manager.

If things don't work out with our next boss and Coppell doesn't get snapped up by Coventry City or Cardiff or Middlesborough or someone then don't be surprised to see Coppell back in charge in the near future.
