Mad Dog's Ghost Said it before and I'll say it again. Everton will not be signing the likes of Doyle and Hunt. Their fans are demanding Top 4-style signings.

Blackburn? Unlikely. Don't think Doyle has shown good enough form over last 2 years to go somewhere as established as that.

Wolves? Highly likely. Plastic paddy manager and about Doyle's level.

Good shout I'd say. £4m would be okay business baring in mind the fact that Mr Mad says we have to sell before we buy.

It's a deal - now where do we sign.

SteveRoyal Is it really much of a step up for Doyle to move to Wolves? Sure, they're in the Premiership, but they aren't a top class side and they have every chance of being relegated next season. I think Doyle moving to Everton or Blackburn may be more likely.

Like Kitson going to relegation certainties Stoke (ignoring Dave's subsequent struggles)?

I doubt we'd let him go for £4m.

My point was that I don't think Wolves will offer £6.5m for Doyle. I can see them offering around £4m, if indeed they want him, and then Rodgers will have a choice to make, what with his hands being tied on transfer funds.

I think Mr Mad would bite Wolves hands off.

£4m in his artwork account and £25k a week off the wages.

And if we want to have enough money to buy one or two quality replacements, we'd need a lot more than £4m. Look at other strikers of his calibre, they all have gone for more than that and I'm sure we can get more. Rodgers should turn down the money. I'd rather we kept him (and I think Rodgers would like to keep him) than accept a small sum.

He'll never go for £4 million - Kitson went for £5 mil and he's older than Doyle, more injury prone and isn't a full international.

Law of diminishing returns with the 2nd season back in the championship. Its not about his worth compared to Kitson who was sold a year earlier in a different financial situation. I'm not saying it will happen but £4m transfer fee plus removing 1.25m a year from the wage bill would certainly have us thinking.

That'll be why Palace got peanuts for Andy Johnson then.

He's got promotions on his CV, but he's got a fair few relegations too and I don't see next season being any different. He's similar to Coppell in ability - average, just a different sort of manager.

One relegation when he was with a club for a significant part of a season, when he was given £6M (for transfers and wages) by Sunderland - no disgrace there.

OK - how about we have a little wager - if Wolves get relegated, I'll give £10 to a charity of your choice - if we stay up, you pay £10 to one of mine.

Second season syndrome, this coming season, though.

Which has nothing to do with your original point.
