The thing about the 05/06 team was that there were virtually no lapses at all. I'm not a great believer in forgiving multiple lapses even when they're mitigated by some sublime talent. Which is why, much as i loved the character, I wasn't that bent out of shape about Bikey going.

My understanding is that only the UK is still in the transfer window due to bank holiday yesterday? Therefore this means no teams from Czech Rep/Germany can now come in for Marek. If this is true I'm delighted, as once he has found is role, he does give us that bit of quality.

Scotland is not a Bank Holiday today (they had their equivalent holiday on 3rd Aug) therefore with Rangers trying to sign that French bloke I imagine that the window is still open globally

European window closed yesterday, they can no longer sign players, although they can sell players to us until midnight today.

Marek is a good player, but is also very much overated. If we were to loose him then it wouldn't be too much off a loss tbh as he is never fit enough to play anyway.

so it looks like Matejovsky is going to stay :D

but will he play much? i hope so
i can't understand why he's only started in the Carling cup, when he's obviously good enough for this division.

Because he's not fit, and he isn't going to take a game by the scruff of the neck in a team that's struggling. He also gives the ball away too cheaply too often. Rodgers likes ball retention. Maybe once we've had a string of good results he might find his way in.

Really cannot see why hobnobbers have such a high regard for him. He usually plays well for 10 minutes in a game and has never played a top quality 90 minutes since he arrived that I can recall.

Having said that unless a loan was concluded and has not yet been reported, the chances are we are stuck with him anyway but I fear he will get few chances under BR.

He's our best midfielder.

Either this is a whoossshhh.

But that sort of comment is exactly what Andrew is talking about.

Why is he our best midfielder??

He's a creative midfielder. From recent season's we lacked that sort of midfielder. A player who can create a goal-scoring chance or go for that long range shot. The only players who have been able to do that in recent years are the likes of Sidwell,Caskey or Michael Gilkes.

Frankly Sigurdsson has dome more effective things in the last two games than I recall Matejovsky doing in the last 12 months.

We all see the potential in Matejovsky but he does not actually produce very much - for all his supposed defense splitting passes I think he managed just one assist all last season.

Thanks largely due to lack of anticipation by his team mates.

You do realise that he's been with us for those recent seasons don't you?

I think he's flattered to deceive and is possibly the most over rated player I've seen in 25 years at Reading.

He's still good, and I'll be pleased if he gets fit and finds his place in the team and fulfils some of that potential, but basically, for a variety of reasons, he's been a let down so far.

Judging by your little list there, I take it you never saw Simon Osborn (admittedly not recent, but then nor is Gilkes) or Glenn Little play?

I'm as good as Maradona.

But my team mates lack the vision.
