No point to make, just thought it gave a pleasing symmetry...

Is he the slowest 20-year old professional centre-back in the football league?

Yet he's still better than Duberry and Ingimarsson.

Agreed. Pearce has gone from being regarded as the best thing since sliced bread last season to shocking this time around. He's not either. Pearce is a decent young centre-back who is gradually improving.

And he's better a cricketer currently than WG Grace. Is there no end to the man's talents?

As he has 15 years on them I'd bloody hope so

and in Ivar's case that is massively arguable and in my opinion false. I know who I'd rather have playing. I thought Pearce was horrific in the last couple of games I've seen (Leicester and Blackpool). He is still very much learning his trade and he may end up being a decent centre half in the years to come. His one major flaw is something that is never going to get better which is a concern.

Both Iver and Pearce are slow which is a concern, but I'm also worried that neither of them are physically dominant in the air. We really miss a Bikey style defender who is going to head anything. I lost count how many times from corners and free-kicks we allow the oppo to get headers in. Mind you this isn't helped by having a small midfield and fullbacks!!

For me this is something Rodgers needs to address if we're to stop conceding goals and climb the table. Matt Mills may not be the answer, but surely he must be better bet than Alex Pearce.

To be fair after a run of conceding 9 goals in 3 games we've gone 3 games and conceded just 3 goals, so it would appear that it's an area that has had some attention.

And ironically it would seem our most secure centre back pairing over those 6 games has been Pearce / Ivar ! with all sorts of Mills / O'Dea / Ivar pairings also tried and not being especially successful.
