Ian Royal I don't think it would be that bad a result for us to dip into the zone because the lower teams won, because that would drag a whole bunch right into the mire. At the same time the higher teams winning and pulling away leaving the bottom three stranded wouldn't be a huge loss.

We desperately need a couple of wins in the next three or four games to start getting the points ticking over again though.

Yes but in the worst case scenario we could be on 23 points and 21st could be about 30 points. A 7 point deficit to safety would be a mountain to climb so the next two games are vital for us. I think we really NEED at least 4 points from them. I would be delighted with a draw at Sheffield and a win at home - could really keep us in with a chance and would get McD the job in my book.

I some ways its easier to look at the points target required

I think in virtually all seasons 53 is safety so we have 23 - gulp!

But that 30 points basically means 9 wins and 3 draws or 8 wins and 6 draws from our last 21 games. We must start beating those in the bottom half at home - that target is manageable if we start doing that. if we dont relegation beckons.

its interestying that Sheff Wed have a run of easier games - it at least means they have a harder run in.

Agreed but I think Sheffield will get out of it. I think we need to look at getting ahead of Plymouth Peterborough and Scunny as the best chance of survival. Our games against these three are huge and probably must win. Scunny away will be massive. Several others could also come back into the mix if they have a bad run.

It will probably all go down to the last game again!!

Smoking Kills Dancing Doe I also cant believe we've got to the point were people say they can accept relegation.....

Me too. Clearly we are in a very bad position, but a lot can happen. Don't believe a change of manager is the issue, given the financial restrictions we are clearly operating under. Dropping a further division is not going to make it any easier to attract new finance is it ?

We need to turn that home form around, a bit of luck and a few key results against the fellow strugglers - the ones above us that is. (Oh, and a bit of support for the lads when they need it.)

What is really scary is that Sheff Wed play twice before we play again in the league

Blackpool A - Tues
Peterborough H - Sat

We could be 4 points adrift going into Sheff U match.

At least we'll have a club to come back to with no points deductions if we do. But I can't see us going down...as of now.

Completely agree with what you wrote Only one Trevor Morley. Sheff Wed have the potential in their squad to get out of this mess, they can't get any worse than when we won up there.

If we don't start winning at home we deserve to go down, something which i fear is on the horizon!

We will have a far clearer picture of our fate by the end of February.

I think one of our biggest problems is lack of goal scoring - on the face of it we are scoring goals, but we miss so many along the way; so it means we end up throwing everything forward to score that elusive goal that we leave ourselves exposed at the back. I just can't remember a single game this season where we scored a goal that looked 'easy'. Or maybe it's just all got to me ...

It will be too late if we are in the bottom 3 at the end of Feb. Roll on 3rd May when Mr Coral can give me lots of wonga!

Thank you SJM for running this football club so effectively and efficiently. We really are turning into the Judean People's Front Crack Suicide Squad.

You know it makes senseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Is this really the case? Before the Leicester home game, I would have been inclined to agree with you, but ever since the Leicester game, we've scored at least once in every game since then.

Do we or don't we have a goalscoring problem?

We don't have an extreme problem with scoring goals as we've had goals from 9 different players since Leicester, but we could do with a striker who regularly bangs in the goals.

EDIT: Have you noticed that our top-scorer is a midfielder, FFS?
