Wycombe Royal
Terminal Boardom Clubs that have plummetted in the past? Simples!

Luton Town
Bradford City
Northampton Town
Swindon
Swansea
Huddersfield Town
Oxford United

Of these, two are now in the Conference!

HTH!

How many of those have been in recent times and how many of those were due to financial problems rather than controlled cost cutting to maintain financial stability. And where is the list of clubs who haven't plumetted? Of course that wouldn't support your rant.

But 7 clubs over the past few decades hardly supports your view does it?

Try looking at the bigger picture rather than just the blinkered view of what supports your rant.

I would say that Oxford, Luton and Bradford are EXTREMELY recent. Blinkered? Quite the oppsite actually. I don't need to see or smell the shit to know that we are well and truly in it!

CMRoyal Most of them are third tier level, which is our natural position.

I don't agree with this notion that we have a natural position and that it is in the third tier. We are where we are.

We've even spent more time in this division than we have in the fourth tier. And that's a fact.

Those three clubs all had money or ownership issues - can you spot the (obvious) difference?

Did we pay players like Benito Carbone £40k per week?
Are we in danger of going into administration?
Do we have part finished stadium?
Have we had an owner like Kassam?

Just face it you can't any clubs that have had controlled cost cutting (and had controlled their costs prior to the cost cutting) that have plumetted to the bottom of the league system.

Can't disagree with that no matter how hard I try. Must be over twice the number of years at second tier and above than 4th tier.

How much did we continually spunk over shunt then?!? How many contract upgrades did he have?

Money and ownership issues? How long has egoman been trying to sell the club? Real Factssssssssssssssssss!

Wycombe Royal
Blue Hooped Moose
winchester_royal No doubt the board believe, quite rightly IMO, that the current squad is easily good enough to stay up. If we go down then so be it, but I don't want the long term stability of this club threatened by panic spending.

+ Infinity

I can't beat "infinity" so I'll just plump for a +1.

And this squad IS good enough to get us out of the problems we find ourselves in, but a golascorer would certainly be helpful.

Couldn't agree more. I'll be pretty gutted if we go down but still think we are good enough to avoid the drop. If it happens, then we renew our season tickets and look forward to a promotion battle and possibly some top class derbies against Aldershot and Swindon.

As for those constantly telling Madejski (or Egoman or whatever the children like to call him) to fcuk off. What's the alternative? He's said on numerous occasions that he'd be happy to sell - it's not as if billionaire benefactors are queueing up to shower us with million pound strikers.

I think this season is our 16th at this level. We spent 8 seasons in the 4th tier.

Do you know nothing?

According to F365 stats:

2 season in Tier 1
14 seasons in Tier 2
11 seasons in Tier 4

So 16 against 11 doesn't equal over twice the number does it?

As for Madejski trying to sell the club, he is looking for someone to take it to the next level, but whilst he is still running it he is still making sure it is financially sound, hence the decisions he has taken.

Real facts? You are incapable recognising them or accepting them.

A thread about dropping into the bottom 3 seems quite futile when we didn't actually play last night and will be powerless to do anything about the gap being widened on Saturday because we will be in another competition due to some success!!! Before the abusers kick in I am not blinkered as to our situation and am as worried as the next fan at the seemingly inept plan in place at the mo - either back McD or get someone else in. I think the Mad man is waiting for the comfort of a couple of wins before he hands the poisoned chalice to McD or else he will go elsewhere if he sees time running out.....

This season the margins have been pretty close - we've only been properly tonked in a few games and have been very unlucky to lose against the likes of Leicester, Cardiff etc. If you look at our next 10 fixtures they will determine where we end up - the next 5 home games are all very winnable (yeah yeah, we only won 3 league games at home in 2009 - that has to change), and some of the away games are winnable too (perhaps more so than the home ones?)

We do need a striker to step up to the plate (Long? Thor?) and need to give a full 90 minutes on a regular basis. The margins are fine, but if we don't address these issues we are not too good to go down.

The issue is the decisions of the board.

We'll assume that under Coppell, there weren't many decisions to be made regarding manager, staff, etc. but there was the issue of buying players of Prem quality - which we didn't. Mark one.

Then we risked finances by keeping the majority of our squad together and continuing to pay Premiership wages, only to fail to achieve promotion. Mark two.

We then had to sell the majority of our recognisable stars, or loan them out to get them off the wage bill. Mark three.

We then failed to bring in much quality to replace the likes of Doyle, Bikey, Harper ( ) and instead replaced them with Academy *pruducts or Championship chumps. Mark four.

Most importantly, is the appointment of Rodgers'. I'm of the opinion that he came in at the wrong time.
He came into a Reading squad that had been dismantled in a matter of months, and then had to try and remake the squad with a "cloth cutting" amount of money. He then had to get his "world class" ideas across to the squad, which barely knew each other and had played together for a very small amount of time. Mark five.

If Rodger's had come in in a few years time, then perhaps he may have succeeded - we'll never know. He may get a second shot, although many Reading fans now hate him for the predicament he got us in.

Then the sacking of Rodgers'. Sack the man that got us here, then have a scout manage the squad. Uhh... wtf? :|

So, 6 major decisions, 6 major impacts on our predicament now.
Can't sack the board, because we have nobody to replace them.
Can't sack the chairman, there's nobody there to buy it.
Can't sack the manager, there isn't one.
What we need is to get a manager in and then hope that the hierarchy at RFC make the right decisions to get us out of this mess.

Short-term, who knows what's going to happen?

West Stand Flash Sheffield Wednesday appoint a new manager, win 2 in 2. They are now out of the bottom 3.
Reading don't appoint a manager, employ a Scout, hasn't won a league game in 5 and has guided us to bottom 3.

Well done Mr Madejski, Nigel Howe and Gimp Hammond!!

In total agreement.

That is not correct. I've checked soccerbase.com....

2nd tier = 1926/7, 1927/8, 1928/9, 1929/30, 1930/1, 1986/7, 1987/8, 1994/5, 1995/6, 1996/7, 1997/8, 2001/2, 2002/3, 2003/4, 2004/5, 2008/9, 2009/10

4th tier = 1971/2, 1972/3, 1973/4, 1974/5, 1975/6, 1977/8, 1978/9, 1983/4

Therefore it is 17 seasons in 2nd tier and 8 seasons in 4th tier. Which means TB is correct.

Where did the extra three seasons in tier 4 come from and why have you missed off three seasons in tier 2? :|

What do you mean why have I? I stated the source of my data.

http://stats.football365.com/hist/overall/atdist.html

THat goes up to the 2001/02 season and then I added 6 more season at Tier 2 and 2 seasons at Tier 1.

THis is the same Soccerbase that shows us as having Brian Howard on loan and some other player called Adam Griffin on loan as well?

I can see your point.

Site I'd most trust is http://www.royalsrecord.co.uk/

In particular:

http://www.royalsrecord.co.uk/seasons/summary.html

FWIW, it shows 17 at Tier 2 and 8 at Tier 4 since 1920/21 (first season in Football League)
