winchester_royal Watching Reading play under McDermott has been enjoyable, something watching us play hasn't been for quite a while. He seems like a genuine, knowledgable guy who the players respect and play for. He's shown tactical awareness, motivational prowess, and an ability to spot a bargain in the transfer market. Three qualities which, looking back, Rodgers did not have.

I'm backing Brian.

+1. Again I agree with you, WR. Let's cut out the negativity and get behind the man.

We have no choice to support him, however posters seem to be dwelling on the 3 cup performances. When will people see that the players raising their games is the main reason for this, lets see what happens Tues and Sat in the league. My guess is we'll win neither!

neither pleased nor displeased. nice guy, honest, noticed problems and offered solutions, tactically better than coppell and rodgers so far. but is he too nice in the long run? key 4 games coming up in the league.

We have only had 3 bad halves of league football from McD's team - both halves at Plymouth and the first half at Forest. All the rest have been pretty good and have not been rewarded with the goals that perhaps the performances deserved.

I am more than happy if this appointment is confirmed, he deserves his chance.

To be fair you could say that Rodgers produced some decent performances which didnlt get the results that they deserved.

I think the confirmation of what has been clear for a while would make sense and McDermott should get the job until the summer.

I do think it is sadly typical of football fans that apparantly the manager gets no credit for the excellent cup performances yet gets all the blame for any poor spells. Who would be a (highly paid) manager these days ?

I disagree. There were a few games where we played OK and didn't get a point that maybe we deserved, but they never reallylooked in control and looked likely to concede at any time. The defence looks a lot more solid now and the team seems more robust......

We should've beaten Scunthorpe about 4-0. Unfortunately Gylfi had his boots on the wrong feet that day. In all honesty, I don't think many teams have come to the Madejski and actually outplayed us this season - Palace, Boro, Swansea for a half off the top of my head.

I must say that Bristol City away was one of the best performances I've seen from us this term though - it would have been criminal to come away from that with nothing.

Like Middlesbro at home you mean? Let it go. The retard has gone and isn't coming back.

As posted above, the players have shown what they can do in the cup. It is now time for them to earn their corn and reproduce that level of form and commitment shown where it really matters. So, to the players, earn your oxf*rd millions. To the Manager, manage them and m,ake sure that you kick arse when needed. To the supporters? Be apathetic and whining as always me included

You are a clown. Scunny had their chances and should have taken the lead just before half time. You conveniently forget the second half performance by Sheff Utd where we hardly got a kick. Quite frankly, we were playing such ineffective football and passing mindlessly between the back four and midfield. But, if that's what floats your boat...

LOL! We had about a hundred chances in that game. How should they have taken the lead before half time when we were already one up and battering them? :-/

Sheff Utd second half, yeah to an extent, although it took a complete howler from Fed to lose us that game. You'll note I said "off the top of my head", so I wasn't "conveniently forgetting" anything.

We deserved more from the Leicester game than a 1-0 defeat...

I personally think you're the clown here TB. Whether Scunny had chances or not, we should have beaten them by more than 3 with the chances we had, irrespective of thier chances. We completely outplayed Leicester, and Palace well we get destroyed by 1 outstanding player. It was clear for all to see the team was playing better and results were getting better, yet now we are 4 points adrift having not won a league game under BM.

Rodgers was never given a chance by most, including members of the board. Look at his results at Watford last season and you will see things started the same, and improved at the same time. I Would liked to have seen him more fairly judged by the end of the season.

That said McDermott conducts himself well and i very much hope he succeeds, which i think he probably will.

No Middlesbrough was awful, I was refering to games like Forest (opening day), Doncaster, Cardiff, Leicester and Scunthorpe. I have nothing to let go of, Rodgers made many mistakes but I have not seen anything in the (LEAGUE) games since his departure to suggest that we will be any better off than if he had stayed in charge. That said I am fully behind McDermott (as I was Rodgers) and hope to be proved wrong.

Ian Royal
FiNeRaIn How many points do we average under under BM compared to BR in the league?

First 4 league games to first 4 league games? Identical. Otherwise insignificant data for comparison.

Indeed, and under Rodgers we only scored 1 goal in those first 4 league games. Whereas with McDermott, we've scored 4.

On the flip side of the coin, under Rodgers we only conceded 6 goals. With McDermott, we've conceded 8 goals.

Would be happy enough if it was true, but does anybody have evidence to support this claim?
