brendywendy bryan has on numerous occasions and said long wont be sold to a championship rival.
do you really think hell go back on that/be forced to go back on that?

Brendy ...dont think it will be BMs decision, and if it should happen, would imagine BM will be mightily pi$$ed off

so NH is going to oxf*rd over BMcD and sell a player to a rival under his nose, after McD has repeatedly and specifically said he will not go unless its premiere league bound?
reeeeaaallly?

If that happened he would be pissed off i agree.

Personally I think Long's been quality this season, although £3million is a big fee and every player has his price.

I don't care who he is sold to as long as they pay the fee we want.

West Brom have gone about their business quietly if they're going to sign him; making very few noises compared to West Ham. Typical Reading way; understated and getting the job done. Would love to see a deal with Simon Cox coming the other way, but I can't see him meekly accepting a step down like that.

Yeah, and that.

I thought Roy Hodgson was quite respectful about it, although quite shrewd as he didn't rule anything in or out.

1138: FOOTBALL - Leicester City manager Sven Goran Eriksson confirms Shane Long is one of his targets, but feels the Reading striker may move to the Premier League, reports Sky Sports. Long has attracted interest from several clubs during the summer, with West Ham United having had a £7m offer rejected.

Snowball If Long is in the Championship this season, all season, he will get goals for the whole season, very probably MORE than last season.

Why "very probably more than last season"?

Serious question, I'm not here for the wind up or having a pop, i just find that a bit of a strange comment. Didn't Shane play the majority of games for us last season? So why "very probably" more goals this term? Surely there's just as much chance that he'll get less as well..... or am i missing something?

Because he didn't really find his confidence and goalscoring form until December - if he plays a full season in his best form he'll score more.

I'm pretty sure snowball thought it justified in trying to give me a smackdown for using works like "probably" and "if" in predicting the future. How strange to see him use them.

I wouldn't worry about it, we aren't going to sell him to Leicester. That would help them and harm us. We sold Mills because he wasn't worth that much to us, he wasn't nearly as important to us and becuase there was far less chance of a Pre club stumping up the cash for him.

And as is already pointed out that quote is a rehash and in no way adds fuel to the prospect of Long signing for West Ham. Just as last week it didn't show he'd jump at the chance to sign for them.

Journos making up the story first and then adding in a quote and hoping no one notices it actually says closer to the opposite of what their story is.

If Shane stays we now have a KNOWN set-up, a player still improving
with the confidence that last season's 25 goals (plus international goals)
gives him, plus the confidence being called an 8 Million-pound player gives him.

On that basis, I'd expect him to score 25++

Add in the fact that Elwood is key and it was his influence that unleashed Long.

On that basis, I'd expect 25++ from Long

I expect Karacan to be better than last season

On that basis, I'd expect 25++ from Long

I expect Hunt to have his best season ever

On that basis, I'd expect 25++ from Long

I think Mills going will make the club are happier, more cohesive place

On that basis, I'd expect 25++ from Long

Is that enough reasons?

I also think McAnuff will have a very good season and make more goals

On that basis, I'd expect 25++ from Long

If he stays and all the above apply, I think he could get 30+ in all competitions (if he stays of course)

For Ian, just to explaining, very probably is a stronger statement than "probably". To clarify. I believe it WILL happen (if he stays) but who know what can happen? An injury in the first game (like last season... how many games did he carry that injury?)

But I believe he's an 8M player now and will get better this season AND next season, as he's still way off the peak for strikers
and "young" in football terms. With us or somewhere else he will eventually eclipse Kevin Doyle.

Or he may buckle under the pressure of being valued at 8 million as has happened to better players than Shane. On the other hand as you say he may thrive on it.
