Today is a good day to be a Reading fan.

Top marks to the Twitter admin for the tease and announcement and fair play that Long was happy to join in with it.

How soon did he get legend status, as early as that late equaliser at Derby?

Round of applause to Paul “the riddler” Royal who did have a source on this and broke the news on Monday evening ( in a round about way).

Happy with it. The obvious nostalgia aside, I think anyone would be happy to sign an experienced striker who has played the last decade in the PL on a free transfer at this level really. It should give everyone a nice boost going into the season now as well and should spell the end for Puscas who just needs to find a move.

Has anyone moaned that he isn't a left back yet?

Cheers mate. Been genuine through out the past 2 weeks, it literally has been on, off, maybe, and then on. Weird how some of my posts got deleted, probably got a bit close to the mark what could be said - but like everyone, delighted that he saw sense and he is to take alot of credit to wanting to come here and well done to Reading FC for making the numbers work, because that was the issue.

Well done sunshine. You’ve done us proud. Any news on Hutchinson?

This is our equivalent of United re-signing Ronaldo.

Still good enough to change games, probably won't cost us much overall, gives everyone a psychological boast, kind of keeps us focusing on the past rather than the future though.

This is our equivalent of Pele playing the 2nd half of an exhibition game for Santos, to finish his career off having left them a couple of years earlier and gone to play for NY Cosmos

I'm sure others have already said it - but this is the most un-Kia transfer window we've had since the new owners came in.

Now let's see it working.

(As an aside, the Irish player quotient has been low for a while on the men's side, glad to see that improve)

Yep, delighted with the signing but almost as whelmed that we seem to have found a social media dude who knows how it works

According to his Instagram, Shane Long and Kia were in Ibiza together last month, so wouldn't be so sure about that.

For someone who hasn't bothered following this - Is it something to do with the old joke about how "my brother saw X player in The Oracle this morning"?

That was last week. Seems they've been doing a lot of travelling together.

Of course. Surprised they didn't swing by Bentonville...

He's going to retire there so we can grow old together in Eureka Springs.
