So we now wait to see whose medical experts called it right!

Interestingly, Rangers (not the fake hoops) were also reported as being interested in signing him.

Apparently he a dodgy doctor who did another scan for him and said his knee was ok. Or something like that. Charlton seem to be a bit unsure giving him an 18 month contract.

Well, Risdale did suggest he got an independent medical appraisal as well.... I remember reading that last week. They needed money and BWP was the fastest cash-realisation on the table. Who knows whether his knee is any good or not. Only time will tell.

So that's now BWP and Risdale who will be consulting with their lawyer!

36 games later and over 20 goals for Charlton for a player who was a risk ??....sounds like a bit of a gaffe by the club on this one.....love to hear Bugs come out and say so...it will never happen

Only thing we don't know is would he have made an impact in the Championship. Agree though that this would appear to be a bit of a clanger given the problems we've had up front but then it's so much easier with hindsight isn't it.....

Except that none of this means he hasn't got a dodgy knee that could end his career at any moment or, that if this happened next Saturday and he'd scored 20 goals so far for us in the Championship, that this would have compensated for our investment in him.

Those who run this club in having more brains than our stupid fans, shocker.

Or that had we signed him he wouldn't have scored a goal a game for us since. It's all a 'what if' so its pointless this thread being dug up again, suffice to say since we didn't sign him, he has done very well for Charlton, and that's it.

 just cant help but have a go can ya!

why would he have to come out and say that? there are hundreds of players we lok at assess, talk tobut ultimately dont sign
his record in getting players in for peanuts, and selling on for millions is unrivalled at this level imo, and no manager/DOF gets it right everytime, imo hes got feck all to apologise/feel guilt over

and i think you misunderstand the meaning of the word risk.
in our opinion, the cost of getting him in and putting him on a contract, with a supect knee meant we werent interested,
this does not mean that "bugs" was guaranteeing that the players knee would collapse under the strain, just that it was a "risk" too far.

Agree. Cost > Risk does not mean the player was not good enough, or that he would not be a success. Just that the chances of him being fit enough to be a success for long enough were not high enough to take the chance on him.

Given how Manset & Le Fondre are doing I think you'd have to be an utter plank to try and point score about BWP scoring well at a lower level when we decided not to pick him up.

That cap certainly seems to fit Mr Caps Lock.

Had we taken the punt perhaps Long would not have stepped up to the plate like he did, many here were going on about how he needed replacing, and BWP was a possible replacement, rather than a partner.

All in all who knows, and who cares, good luck BWP at Charlton.
