Sutekh
bcubed Barnsley and Bournemouth both win

Swansea lost at home to Preston so that means Reading are now 3 points behind the Welshmen though Swansea have a game in hand (which is a trip to Sheffield Wednesday) and still have to come to the Mad Stad.

Swansea go to Millwall on Saturday.

Yes - Swansea just 4 points clear of 7th place, they're in the mix now

Yes Swansea are wobbling now. If we beat them we have a real chance of overhauling them provided we win at least a couple of other games too. But on the downside it looks like we might need an unusually high number of points for the play offs this year- possibly 76+ whereas 74 is normally enough.

Unless Cardiff turn this around they could well be out of it tonight. 3-0

Cardiff should have left Mccarthy as interim manager.

On current form, we simply have to beat both Welsh clubs.

Not looking forward to Cardiff in two weeks, they are another Barnsley, just get it in the box at all cost.

5 days to prepare for Watford....anybody else think we can get a result? Particularly if Swift is fit and Joao's confidence is restored? Consistency and performances against gritty hard working teams has been our problem, but we have the ability to match Watford. Cardiff are gone now. 2 from 4; Swansea's form has dragged them in.

Yes we can, they didn't look up to much against Colin's boys earlier, got a good feeling about it and will be nice to be underdogs in a game for the first time in ages

Yeah we could do something there. Need to play well but certainly can’t afford at this stage to roll over to defeat

I think we need at least a point from Watford, I could see Swansea capitulating they have a well organised Milwall and a Wednesday that will not give up. Appoint might be all they get from those 2.

To come away from Watford unbeaten would be fantastic
but, truth is, if we can beat Huddersfield and Luton, beat Swansea
that is us on 75. I think Cardiff are finished too, so we could (COULD)
get 78 even if we lose at Watford and Norwich

Don’t we play Watford on Friday ?
We’ll struggle to get 5 days in before then...

Thought I would have a quick look at the relative strength of run in's from Brentford down to see how the play-off challengers fair - this is strength based on form as we are now in silly season where teams suddenly become world beaters at the bottom or forget how to play football at the top.

Below looks at form and table position and compares the gap between them - our run in looks pretty good at the moment.

Brentford (form 10th)

Opponents current avg position - 12.375
Opponents form avg position - 13.12

Swansea (23rd)

Opponents current avg position - 13.57
Opponents form avg position - 8.2

Barnsley (5th)

Opponents current avg position - 14.5
Opponents form avg position - 13.66

Reading (9th)

Opponents current avg position - 7.66
Opponents form avg position - 13

Bournemouth (3rd)

Opponents current avg position - 12.28
Opponents form avg position - 8.5

So in short:

We have the hardest run in by current position by quite some margin, however, we also see a drop in 5 league positions in that rating when based on current form.

Barnsley's run is, on paper, a piece of piss, on both form and position.

Swansea have a decent run in on paper but on average their opponents are outperforming their league position by 5 positions and for Bournemouth by about 4 making them, currently, fairly tough.
