I'm off out to celebrate tonight - wonder if Big Roy (that's what I'm gonna call him) will be out in town. Mind, I'm going to High Wycombe, so probs won't see him. Wonder if he needs digs.....

maffff
TBM I wonder if this will mean Pog will stay - he may think "hmmm we could tear this division up"

Starting to shape up nicely... with a further 4/5? potentially coming in and inevitably a few on the frindges to depart....

McCarthy, Federici, Taylor, (Andersen)
Bridge, Gunter, Kelly, Cummings
Morrison, Mariappa, Gorkss, (Pearce)
Karacan, Guthrie, Carriço, Akpan, Leigertwood,
Drenthe, HRK, McAnuff, Kebe, McCleary
Pog, ALF, Roberts, Blackman

I can't see Federici sticking around as second choice. I'd also be more than happy to see his arrogant arse leave. I still expect we'll lose at least one winger (HRK) and Pogrebnyak.

Charlie Watts, new EP chap, is supposed to be running a story today on a striker who has committed to us next season. I'm hoping that's Pog but expect Alf.

Libertine Let the meltdown festivities begin... :D

Maybe the reason this has dragged on for so long is because Royston saw all this talk about a meltdown and asked if things could be strung out a bit so the board doesn't collapse?

2 world wars, 1 world cup I want to get excited or upset about this but at the moment I have no emotional tie to this whatsoever.

can someone please explain why this is so great? As I say he is from a relegated Russian team. Is his only claim to fame having failed at Real? Pathetic to knock a player because Real didn't want him, yes, but equally pathetic to get overexcited about a player who happens to have been fancied by Real for a while. I really want to give a sh*t about this so I can get all excited. At the moment I'm following this thread purely because it's the only semi-plausible thing happening so far.

And do we need another winger? Or is he great in the middle too?

Thanks.

for reading, signing a player that once played for real madrid IS just a big thing tbf

Unbelievable Jeff

2 world wars, 1 world cup can someone please explain why this is so great?

Thanks.

Because Wayne Bridge at LB with Royston Drenth playing LW will probably be the best left side combination in the Championship

---------------------------- McCarthy----------------------------------

Gunter ------------ Morrison ------------- Marriapa ------------- Bridge

McCleary----------- Guthrie--------------- Karacan-------------- Drenthe

------------------ Hooper --------------- Le fondre -----------------

Not too bad a side for the Championship if the Hooper deal is really on.

Swap Le Fondre for Pog, then that could be one of the best sides the championships ever seen?

replace mcleary with a fit kebe and it 100% is

Drenthe did well at Everton and hopefully his time in Russia has given him time to mature.

I'm sure SJM/Hammond would have influenced the move in some way if he was completely nutty still.

If he hadn't matured a bit he wouldn't be siging for a Championship club as he would feel it is beneath him.

I'd be surprised though if it is all going to be palin sailing with him as I'm sure he is still a high maintenance player....

Well at least I didn't miss an official unveiling.... though it doesn't get more official than him wearing a Reading shirt..... So therefore.
