As it currently stands do we have 13 first team players, with one being Moore who’s injured and one being Puscas who might be off to Pisa?

We do have Academy boys like Dorsett and Camara who can hopefully step up but it’s thin pickings at the moment.
We certainly need four or five in before end July.

I certainly have a good feeling about Dorsett. Ideally, I think we need several more players before we play West Ham. 5 weeks Saturday we face Blackpool and we need to go into that game with a squad which has at least had a couple of weeks to get to train together etc.

Suspect without the comfort blanket of being an academy grad here, Rino will end up bench warming wherever ends up

Midfield needs a complete re-set after the last couple of seasons.

I get we conceded a lot of goals from set plays (largely under Pauno) but we also conceded a lot on the break and from open play and a lot of that was down to Laurent and Rino, sloppy passes and trying to be clever in the wrong areas.

Swift is a massive loss but the other two not so sure; Rino in particular has flat lined in the last 2 years

morganb Is there a revised list of those who are out of contract who are still to decide?

It is Azeez, Clarke, Hoilett, (Southwood ?)

Southwood is in contract but not wanted, I believe

Azeez yes
Clarke yes
Hoilett - not sure if it went beyond talks
Morrison wasn't offered

Couple more youth players we haven't had an announcement for

Didn't Paul want Azeez tied down to a 5 year deal so we could get £15m for him one day? Oof.

Not quite as obsessed as Paul, but this might end up coming back to haunt us. Azeez has show glimpses of his potential however injuries have curtailed this last season.
If he can stay fit, this next season could be huge for his career, and huge for Reading FC. I really hope this doesn't turn out to be another that got away.

One consideration to bear in mind is the WC at the end of the year.

If an international player from a second tier nation is blocked in their club side, a loan to a championship club with guaranteed first team competitive football might be an attractive option.

I reckon a few teams with tight finances will be looking at these situations, and we should too.

Understand Rinos contract demands were completely unrealistic. Asked for parity with Puscas which we simply couldn’t do.

Bearing in mind how much the club did when he was out with the ankle injury, I think we deserved more

So asking for a package outside the EFL business plan parameters..?

Ie basically asking for us to be docked 6 points...

Not sure that tells us anything we didn’t know. A) other clubs will want him and b) he hasn’t signed with us yet

I really liked Azeez when he played but he was very injury prone and missed large parts of last season. I am still not sure if we were just really unlucky with injuries or whether it was down to the training regime and the medical team.

Let’s hope from now on it’s just incomings we’re discussing with a few pleasant surprises. Happy to see Puscas and Moore leave in due course.

Lots of cry-babies on Twitter pulling out the loyalty card.

Think about it from Rino, Laurent & Swift’s positions - can’t have enjoyed being part of a club with a losing mentality for several seasons, they’re entering their prime years & will want a shot at promotion. All 3 of those clubs have a greater chance of achieving that than here at Reading.

Is Yiadom more loyal? He’s 30, will not improve significantly & will have had less offers on the table. Rarely spoken about outside of the club unlike Swift & Laurent, so not rated at highly.

I love the fact he’s signed but is he more loyal than the others, or are they just in a different stage of their careers to him?

Undoubtedly if we were in a strong position, we’d be picking players off them instead

I’m not fussed. He is already injury prone. He can’t last a couple of games without getting injured.

If Rinomhota, Laurent and Swift didn’t like being part of a losing mentality they could of tried doing something about it. I’m sure our defence would of appreciated some help last season.

Good luck to them will be interesting to see how they do at other clubs. What we now need is players committed to the club.
