blueroyals The club shouldn’t have made an announcement if there were still things that could go wrong or get delayed. Couhig’s jumped the gun again.

how do you know things could still go wrong? For all we know everything may me moving along at the precise pace that those behind the scenes knew they would.

blueroyals They have also made the EFL look silly by presumably briefing them it’s days away only to require multiple extensions

we don't know whats happened with the timeline. Giving short term extensions that knowingly don't take you to the final deadline are sometimes done in business. Its a way of keeping some control.

Wouldn't say I'm nervous, just frustrated it takes us so long to achieve anything throughout this neverending process, and it seems like the final loose ends will be more of the same.

Schmeichel the dog With 90 mins to go until the extension deadline, and despite being told ‘there is nothing to be concerned about’, is anyone becoming concerned? Even just slightly?

I've been concerned since the announcement on May 3rd.. We have been here before, with only a signature on a piece of paper being required, but it went pear shaped, so why was it different this time? I never did understand all the excitement shown after the latest "It's all done and dusted" announcement.

Because we're not really waiting for any further signatures?

The big difference between now and then is that the announcement actually confirmed the new owners - last time it was all hidden behind NDAs.

If you know we aren't waiting for signatures, can you tell us what is holding everything up this time, please?

The've had to order a new ink cartridge for the fax and the Amazon driver has driven his van into the ford at Arborfield.

My assumption is like this is when you exchange contracts for a house. Legally it's done - it's just an administrative process where you all agree to send money over into different accounts on a particular day.

It's frustrating though why there's still uncertainty, or a lack of communication at least, about timelines.

And I imagine it's especially tough when they guy you are buying the house from is under house arrest in China.

Tell the driver to catch a train then, it only takes about 7 minutes to Green Park Station.

EDIT. In case anyone thinks there is no trains from Arborfield, It was Mortimer when I first read the post. (Is someone trying to make me look like a fool? ( I know it doesn't take much!)

That's 5pm folks; the very specific time stated by the EFL for completion when they gave their latest extension.

This just gives the impression that EFL deadlines are meaningless.

Obviously, I would prefer a further extension to expulsion, but whats the point of giving a specific time and date for the completion, and then simply ignoring it?

The deadlines have made them look a bit foolish, especially when they knew that it was technically impossible for the earlier ones to be met.

Either set out exactly what stage you expect to deal to be at by a certain date or give a feasible date and stick to it.

It's like the doctor telling me: "You must lose 10kg of weight by next Tuesday 5pm".

Exactly my assumption.

If we haven't moved forward in another week or two then maybe start worrying, but ultimately it doesn’t matter for much aslong as its fully sorted by early June.

Noel and Brian can still talk to Couhig about budgets and negotiate with (on holiday) players about potential contracts.

I think it just shows they aren’t willing to give long extensions or in fact any extension without signs of progress each time.

Which seems perfectly sensible to me.

You'd expect some kind of update from the club/EFL today.

As 5pm has passed, perhaps the club are waiting until 6 to do a full reveal with an interview, quotes, pictures, etc. so the EFL will wait on that before responding. I don't know, just theorising.

The statement before the Barnsley game felt premature, but as we know with Couhig he likes to strut about showing off so the club must have felt compelled to put something out. Now some time has passed with seemingly not much of an update, it feels to me very similar to his appearance earlier in the season.

Let's hope all the reassuring noises are accurate, and this is just a case of various parties needing the paperwork submitted and put through their own processes to transfer ownership details and all that. The longer we go without proper updates, the more people will feel like it will fall through.

Maybe the EFL are preparing THAT statement, we`ve had 3 extensions now, their patience must be wearing very thin by now.
I for one don`t believe another one will be granted.

Didn't Brogue post some cryptic comment about his sister not being happy and then not elaborate?

Spoke to Dai just now. He didn't mention the takeover and I completely forgot to ask him.
