Mike Hunt
Stranded I'm surprised people are that shocked - if the fee of £6m quoted by Sky is correct then there is no club at our level that would turn that down.

We are at a level whereby we will need to sell a star name occasionally in order to strengthen overall. If we get a new striker and a defender on the back of this it will be an excellent bit of business.

So many people have been clamouring for us to play 4-4-2, the reason we haven't been is to allow us to play Glyfi in a position where he can have an impact - he very rarely had that out wide and isn't (in my mind) suited to a role in a 4 man midfield - he was always going to leave (if not now then in Jan or next summer) and we've got the best deal possible.

No player is bigger that the club and perversely by getting rid of our best player we could still end up with a stronger more balanced squad/team.

I think that most people on here agree that 6 mil for a somewhat unproven Championship player is good money, what I suspect that they are angry at is the fact that:
a) The Club will probably not release any funds to the Manager
b) If they do - he has 1 day to do his business

Means we will be left with the loan market.

I am super gutted, seeing him with the hoff Jersey on will feel like seeing your ex with another guy... lets hope Jake Taylor comes along in leaps and bounds - but he will also no doubt be sold.

He has more than 1 day to do his business. We could easily arrange loans now meaning we could make the player permanent at any time. As long as he is registered now.

You are right we will prob not see all 6million spent now - but I would anticipate approx a third of that being made available to BMc.

Well I for one am still fuming about this.

some of you seem to think £6M is a good fee but you are bonkers IMO. Siggy was the one truly PL class player that we have in the squad. The sort of player that will most likely go for £20M plus sooner or later. He is the sort of player that could just have fired us to the PL in what is an extremely tight division. He is then the sort of player that would have given us a slim chance of PL survival. Now we have no hope other than mid table mediocrity and if we replace him with a Championship class CB and a League 1 class player in Fryatt then we really are going down the tubes. I would rather we bought no one at all as we have no hope of promotion now in any case.

I have supported the club through thick and thin but this is utter madness.

chandog If the £6 mill quoted fee is correct then its clear that a club of our stature had no real choice than to sell. That doesnt make it any less gutting tho as the sig could easily have gone on to become a legend for us and was easily the most talented player we have had for a fair while.

We now must fill the 20 goal a season gap left by siggy as i cant see hunt church or long stepping up to that level of scoring. I like the rumour of matty fryatt as he is a proven goalscorer at this level. Also w e need to get a CB in as we are clearly short with ingi still out and only mills and pearce left.

As much as i have grown to dislike mr mad over the last couple of years i dont believe its protest time yet. I will give him a chance to reinvest some cash on a striker and CB. If this happens and the players we get in are of decent quality the selling of the sig would make sense.

However if mr mad spouts some shite about having no money then its defo MADEJSKI OUT time!

^ This says it all.It will be a dark day if there are no other players coming in .

I think we need a CB and striker to keep us around mid table.Forget the play offs.

Frankly I am so angry that I almost hope we get relegated - that to me is what the owner and senior management deserve. We have League 1 management so may as well be a League 1 team.

Save your anger for if no-one comes in today. I'm not happy he's left but Siggy was always going to go at some point - we were unlikely to go up this year and we were never going to get more than £6m for him.

IF we use some of the money to make the squad more balanced then this will have been a good bit of business.

i would not be suprised to see more than 2. With McDermotts article last week they've obviously been working on this scenario for weeks, and several have probably already signed.

Nathan Tyson and Simon Cox wouldn't be a bad start.

If there are irons in the fire, best to announce everything at once. I'd be more concerned if they'd rushed the story out on out website.
