Where has the money gone?

by sawyers left arm » 03 May 2008 19:47

6.5 Million profit last year and we spent not alot.
We have a squad that would come back up surely and the question of who will leave? Well quite frankly if I was a premiership manager the only players at Reading I would be interested in are Bikey and Materovsky, the rest are not up to standard and that includes half a season Hunt. I think the squad will bounce back because of this fact! Down talk eh?

The other side of the coin is Fulham draw at Pompey and we win at Derby! Happy days but not for Mr Mad who will have to spend a fortune.

You are, I hope, not serious. He is out of his depth in the Premiership and no amount of waving his arms around with his thumbs up will change that.

The money could have gone on taking back his 'Directors loans' which he has given over the years. I would also magine there has been some #creative acounting' to hid th money wherever possible.

I have a fair idea that Mr Mad has done the following

Given dirctors loans to the club to to build the stadium, sign players etc, therefore he can say he has invested millions etc

Now, he has taken his Directors loans back (which are tax free) and now has essentially a club with a modern stadium and good facilties that is worth a lot more than it was when he bought it, and as he has taken the money back, he has practially got it for free and will make a very nice profit when he sells.

The guy has always admitted he is not a football man, this was always a business ad it looks like he will end up doing very nicely out of it. Hopefully he will go soon, and we can get in a Chairman who will at least give us a chance with the wage and transfer budgets.

Yes I have been to madejski but I will never go again 1) To much to see Championship players 2) The atmosphere is sh**. 3) Food is a rip off 4) You can not stand and have to sit throughout the game 5) Programmes are too expensive.

Thats about explains it all I think. I prefer non league football no matter what. 1) you can stand 2) cheap 3)true fans singing no matter what the score is.

But I'm sure that the recent tv programme about The Times Top 100 rich list and their charitable donations strongly suggested that he had donated £50M to the club. Surely that must be true?!

Everything has surely been done for purely philanthropic purposes and has nothing to do with promoting a name/image/personality of a previously relatively unheard of individual?

I still suspect that some of the tv revenue money has gone towards the expansion of the hotel.

Isn't it weird how every time we play Coventry at home we boss the first half and miss a hatful of chances to only go 1-0 up at the break? Then, Coventry come out in the 2nd half like a completely different team and turn it round to win 2-1.

I personally don't understand why Tommy Burns won't pick Carl Asaba, he's got goals at this level and we have no other strikers right now. Does the bloke honestly expect Jimmy Mac to lead the line?!
