Yes it is honest. Its just a shame we couldn't keep Sig and sign Kish as well.

Sometimes I despair at some people

I like the BMcD talks to the media. He really does give the impression that he is saying it as he sees it.

A higly frank and honest interview with a guy who has integrity.

Its just a shame that many of the "experts" on these boards will dismiss his words, prefering to rely on their far more detailed knowledge of the innermost workings of the club; I'm also sure that they will see Brian as a Mr Mad "Yes Man" for daring to suggest that Mr Mad was in any way unhappy with letting Gylfi go.

Brian McDermott is a great man, and even if things begin to unravel before our eyes you won't catch me calling for his head. Even his predecessor was able to reinvest some of the large incoming transfer fees in 2 million pound defenders, and when you consider that the three managers before that had more or less a free hand in the transfer market then you really begin to remember what a bum hand BMc has been dealt in comparison.

Madesjki wasn't happy in the slightest in letting Gylfi go.

Not even one tiny little bit.

As he was bound by the minimum release clause he curses at the heavens every waking moment that such a horrific thing happened to him.

If he could in any way change the universe he would have it so that the deal never happened.

He would much rather have Gylfi than any of the money.

The money is like poison to him.

Therefore he will put every penny from the sale back into the squad.

Simple.

(If he does not I will apologise profusely for this total poor judgement of the situation as will everyone who still lives up Madejski's rectum).

I like Brian but he does have form for being a "yes man". I spoke to someone very high up at Slough when Brian was there who said that he is a really nice guy (no disputing that) but if the Chairman asked for a cup of tea Brian's the sort of guy who would rush to the kettle.

One minor point-if we are not just a liitle bit flush with £7million received in transfer fees something is seriously wrong with the way the club is being run.
I'm with Floyd-I like our manager as I did Coppell for the low-key approach to management compared to the hype men,Rodgers and Pardew.

Yes,did you?

Quotes "the boss is not awash with funds" and "We're not flush with money".
I thought the dreaded black hole came to £4 million so a net £3 million or so in my eyes means that at this level of football we are indeed "flush".
In your world Arch maybe that is not much money but in mine it is.

For a concern losing money 3 million is not "flush" and neither should we flush it away just because we have it

I ould rather the club used the word flush as an adjective and not a verb when it comes to money

"I just can't believe a big Premier League side didn't take him. There was a lot of talk but nothing came of it and it's a sin that he's lost to this country. The Bundesliga's gain is the Premier League's loss."

You gotta love the guy...

Have you thought that if there was a £4million black hole this year there may be a black hole looming next sesaon too (unless we get promoted :D ) and maybe splashing the cash and using all the money from Gylfi may not be prudent?

Surely the black hole is not infinite.
To suggest that it just goes on and on is incredibly negative.
Why on earth should there be a further black hole for a well-run business?
Our own business is well run and we certainly would regard a bonus of a net £3 million as significant and we would certainly feel a bit "flush" to use the idiom of our manager.

Incidentally Arch and westendgirl do you EVER find anything wrong in what our club says?
Presumably you were both enamoured by the ludicrous expenditure on an improved media centre that seemingly contributed to the oft-mentioned black hole?

The deficit will continue until the club starts making a year on year profit. We are set to make some sort of profit with the sale of Gylfi, that much is obvious due to the fact funds are suddenly available... unless we spend it all on the wages of the new players we bring in. And then we'll have another deficit next year because we have these wages to pay and no extra income. Oh look we just sold another good player for several million. Problem solved... for another year.

With a club our size we aren't going to make a profit on the balance sheet without selling a player or two every summer, or stealing money from the hotel... not sure the hotel will like that very much. It's a painful fact, but that's the truth of it.

The black hole has been filled for the time being by selling one of our home grown youngsters.

That is PRECISELY the position SJM would have expected us to be in as a result of the substantial investment in the academy over the last decade and illustrates a pattern it would be reasonable expect to see continued in the years ahead.

Yet more evidence that this is a well run club, I'm sure you'd agree Victor.
