It would have been 06/07 except for the fact we won the League SO WELL.

Getting there was an incredible season - really once in a lifetime and never to be bettered - could have happily stopped watching at the end of that season, secure in the knowledge that we'd seen the best ever. After all, it was a season of firsts.

Having said that, I really, really enjoyed the 97/98 season, and that was when we went down.

05/06 is a season that can never be matched as it was the first time that we did it. Also, it was the style and manner in which we won the Championship that must label it as a stand out season.

That said, 06/07 was better. It was all new and fresh and we were under no pressure. It was so new and everyone got into the whole fun of it. Drawing at home to Man Utd? Giving Chelsea a scare or 3? Hamering the Hammers? Sticking 3 past Spurs? Watching Arsenal destroy us? Amazing stuff!

I think this board provides plenty of evidence for that elsewhere.

The best bits of getting there was when it was close.
The best bits of being there was the whole package.

Pissing the league by such a margin the first time we did go up wins it. But if we go up again, and this might sound perverse. I want a playoff win.

Getting there and the manner in which got there, also barely missing a game along the way made it even more so.

Being there runs it close because of how well we played and how we surprised so many teams. Superb home and away atmospheres along the way as well.

Such a shame that it feels more like 10 years ago now rather than the few years it actually was. What a great shame we threw all that hard work and all that progress away because the ever 'ambitious' chairman we have didn't have the stomach for it when it actually came down to it.

To answer the ACTUAL QUESTION................06/07

05/06 was a real collectors item...a real "once in a lifetime" occasion

but

06/07 humiliated a lot of the Premierdonnaship....and we briefly brought its over-hyped football back down to earth
