Wait. I voted 'yay' but now I'm not sure whether I picked the option representing my thoughts. The thread title and OP are exactly opposite.

He needs to stay in the team. We can't afford to chuck away one of our few footballers.

Dirty trick wording the question in that manner!

Delete one from Yay and and one to nay.

Thought from the headline it was a vote of confidence in Howard, not that some devious sod was using the trickery of in effect a double negative to con people into voting the way he wanted! Sodding slimey polilticians infiltrating this board!

Howard is a good player but not one suited to cut priced physical hoofball.

Get rid of ASAP. Then use the budget for his wages to bring in the illusive all round central midfielder we desperately need...

Was part of a very good midfield unit at the end of last year alongside Tabb then mysteriously dumped at the start of the year. He's a decent midfield player and something different to Tabb/Gunnar/Leigertwood/Karacan so don't mind him in the squad tbf

This really.

He played well with Tabb and Sigurdson. He was also the only player ever to get much out of Marek. He's not having the best of seasons this year, but he's OK.

We look a much better team with him in the side whether he plays well or not. Absolutely resounding yay from me.

We definitely need a player like Howard at his best, but not a 45-minute Howard
who looks like he's not fit or up for it.

I would LOVE him to turn his game around.

Sheffield was a good example. He did very well for 30, decent for thirty, and then looked poor for 30

Those who say we need a Howard-type creative midfield player are right

Maybe he's right to play as a sub from 55 minutes trying to win a game, but he doesn't win enough ball for me and he fell over a bit too often at Sheffield.

I presume though that a player who is as creative as Howard at his best, and has the energy of Tabb and the tackling of Karacan, the nous of Gunnarson, is probably playing in the Premiership.

What worries me is that when you think "Howard" you
have to think 451 to accommodate his defensive weaknesses
and then we are not so good up front.

Can be superb on his day, but can often be very anonymous. Would be interesting to see how he got on along side Legs.

In fairness, most people who said no didn't give the first hint of an explanation. I think they might not understand football.

Not playing well at the moment it seems, but he's the only central midfielder we have who can pick a creative pass. I can think of players far higher up my shit list and less useful to the club, than Howard.

Possibly not a great pick at the moment in a team full of stupid defensive lapses given he does lose the ball cheaply in midfield more than others.

From the sounds of it he gave away the ball needlessly in midfield for Sheff Us goal... but then he can hardly be blamed if the commo was right and Griff gifted them a pen when they were going nowhere. They sure as hell weren't gonna score any other way by the sounds. And Howard was also supposed to be involved creatively in the build up to our goal. I'd like to see the highlights before nailing my colours to the mast completely on those two incidents though.
