Back From The Game- Forest Away

by LoyalRoyal22 » 09 Apr 2011 18:20

i live in nottinghamshire

literally one of the best games i ever been to. thought ref actually got all big calls correct, 4-3 unfair reflection, 5-3 would have been about right, we was awesome, great team selection by brian with the 442, ripped them apart time and time again

stand out players for me... Harte and Karacan

Just got back.

Everything still a bit of a blur. Superb game, players celebrated every goal like it was the one that won the league.
Fantastic support creating a great atmosphere in the away end.

Could have been 8-8. But I'll settle for 3-4! :D

We were great. Had a really good day out.

Think I actually know who susieroyal is now. Didn't say hello just in case it wasn't though

MOTM - Karacan IMO. Ran his socks off all day and scored a good goal.

Praise indeed from the Forest forum:-

http://www.forestforum.co.uk/showthread ... 58&page=16

They lost every aerial ball - no midfielder is going to protect them from that. If you get a good ball into our box, neither central defender looks to have the capability to deal with it. Chambers may win player of the season, but he's technically nowhere near as good as the player he has replaced.

Looking at the game from a wider perspective, I have nothing but credit for Reading. They came and played a positive formation. They came to win the game. They were the superior attacking side, carving out more clear opportunities than we did by quite some distance. All of their goals were the kind of goals sides at this level should be striving to score, utilising the wide areas and making the most of attacking set-pieces.

The only reason we scored three goals is because they were so keen to win the game that we almost felt as if we had to try as well. There was only one team that deserved to win the match, there was only one team that attacked throughout the game and seized the initiative whenever it was loose in the midfield.

They were aided by the sheer incompetence of the Forest defence, but that is not the point. Reading are a very good side, assembled by a manager who does not look like he would rather draw an away game than try and win it (and possibly lose in the process). They are a side that has been rebuilt with some skill and guile. They have an approach to the game that never seemed to verge on desperation, as ours did when we were searching for a goal with that hopeful (hopeless) punt towards Adebola.

From our point of view, we could deride it as a calamitous performance, but when you concede four goals in any match, what else could it be? Perhaps this will put paid to the theory that we conceded four at Leeds because Chris Cohen sent off. We conceded four goals at Leeds because our central defenders were awful. We conceded four goals today because our central defenders were awful. We conceded three goals at Swansea because our central defenders ...

This is spot on - it doesn't always pay off but right now our positive approach is working. Long may it continue

This game had everything
Great start by the Royals and a deserved lead taken with a stunning Harte free kick
Then a penalty from nothing brings Forest back into the game and they react positively as half time approached
Second half saw Forest go ahead with a good shot from Earnshaw and the away fans were silenced
But nor for long as Karacan's looped header evened things up and Kebe gave us the lead from a corner
Great atmosphere in the away end turned to great tension as Forest set up attack after attack
Then another dubious penalty seemed to have robbed us of a deserved win
But there was still more to come with a quickly taken free kick ending up in the net
The fans go wild but there is still time for more drama and a last minute penalty miss by Long
Amazing game
Can't speak and must go and check blood pressure now!

I'm literally in a daze still. What a day that was. One of those days that reaffirms your love of football. Can't be arsed to do any ratings, so 10s all round. I undoubtedly will be on tv prancing around like a prick when we scored too.
Million and one spotteds too. Good Skillzzzz all round...

Best away game I have been to, and maybe the best full stop. The atmosphere was amazing, their goals felt so dreadful and our first three goals were just so great. When the fourth went in I just couldn't take any more in. I am in a daze.

There were seven big decisions and the ref may have got them all wrong, but we still deserved the win. Kebe and MacAnuff were just too much for them, but Harte seemed like our best player today.

Fair play to Forest, we've played some nasty fouling teams in the last few weeks, but they tried to match us playing football, and their fans were great. The two or three minutes leading up to their second goal must have been some of the best footy seen in the championship all year.

I didn't know that Forest had Delilahed Mull of Kintyre: I will download it in a minute.

Just in case it's a poster on here,

Apologies to the guy in X1, stair 14, row X, seat 97 who I almost threw into row W when we scored the fourth.

Just got back, what an amazing game. Still buzzing from the winner that we undoubtedly deserved, I'm hoarse and my heart must have suffered some stress today. I need to sit down for a few hours, down a few beers and calm down.

Game of the season.
