Excited?

by Svlad Cjelli » 30 Apr 2011 21:28

Twitter is full of the younger fans getting all excited about being in the play-offs - and I suppose it is a big deal.

But I find I can't get too excited about it - not sure what it is, but it might be the way our form has evaporated in the past week and out play is now so slow and turgid, or it might be the 4 times I've got excited about play-offs and been let down that I'm finding it hard to make an emotional investment in this one.

Are other old-hands excited or just fearing disappointment again?

We might be getting that Wolves 'you've let us down again' banner.

If we get to the final then yes I will be excited. In the semi-finals I will just be tense and fearing the worst.

I'm one of lifes cynics anyway but really don't see the playoffs as a positive, we've historically never done well in playoffs, our performances of late have looked jaded (especially since kebe is out) and to be honest I think the teams we'll face are just out n out stronger than us (better form, more than plan a, better organized)

I`m not excited, mainly because as the poster says our form as just gone down the drain hole and theres no way without a very big improvement we will make it to the final..just what exactly was said in that dressing room after the forest win?

I think the highs that were felt during our winning streak and the fantastic game at Forest have faded somewhat.

Swansea away on a Monday night really doesn't revitalise my excitement levels, however we are now just a draw and a win away from Wembley so I guess I could get excited again pretty quickly.

I just hope that Kebe will be fit enough to play the big part I think he will need to play.

Hope you're right though.

I'd say yes. You have to be in it to win it, and we are. Anything can happen.

Not sure I could handle the nerves of the final but would love to get there.

Any idea on how much longer Kebe will be out for??

I've seen all four play off losses but I am still absolutely over the moon. I had no ideas we would get to the play offs - at the beginning of the season and even more so when we sat 12th in the table a little over two months ago. Lets bring it on. Can't f*cking wait!

And to the doomsayers, who knows what will happen. No one can really know. Who'd have thought we'd get here back in Feb so who's to say we won't finally have a successful play off. That's football for you - totally unpredictable and completely f*cked up. That's why we keep coming back :D Who knows - we could be in the prem come 30 May and Chelsea could be champions.

Nothing - just trying to illustrate the point that strange things happen in football. In this case, Chelsea could do the unthinkable from a couple of months ago and so could we. Anyway, it's not the point - I wouldn't worry about it. The rest of what I said is the point.

Not fussed. I prefer football in this division so wont be disappointed if we don't go up.

Cardiff, Swansea and Forest are all better sides than us IMO. We have had a very mediocre season barring that 8 game winning streak, and we seem to be back where we were before it which worries me.

Not excited, apprehensive. Unless we can hammer Derby like 5-0 I doubt I'll be excited for the play-offs. I was excited about a possible 2nd place finish but this team has lost its mojo and I dare say its confidence looks shattered. We looked like we were holding on for dear life against Leeds. We gacked up a 2 goal lead and lost to a team which was relegated today, And then our game today doesn't leave me brimming with excitement for the next 3 games.

From that standpoint other teams around us hit their 'mediocre' patch and fell away, come back and fell away again. 9 losses as opposed to 4 for the leaders. 17 drawn as opposed to 16 again for QPR. It's been a strange season.

Am i excited. Win at home and still leading with 85 mins played away and i may crack a smile.

Not excited in the slightest. I was, but we're showing that we simply aren't good enough at the moment and tbh I'm more expecting us to get utterly embarassed than win.

Is this proper negativity or ironic negativity?

The negativity of this board astounds me.
