Mid-Week Away Games

by RFCUK » 14 May 2011 14:35

I'm not a statistician so please don't slate me too hard, but I thought it might be worth looking at our away mid week games this season. I've grouped them in to two; one group for midweek Championship evening kick offs (Leeds included), of which there has been seven; and the other for all midweek games, whether they be a Cup game or kicked off at 12:00.

League:

Won Two: Ipswich Town, Scunthorpe

Drawn Four: Millwall, Cardiff, Sheff United, Leeds

Lost One: Bristol City

All Games:

Won Four: Torquay (Cup), Everton (Cup), Ipswich Town, Scunthorpe

Drawn Four: Millwall, Hull (12:00 KO), Cardiff, Sheff United, Leeds

Lost One: Bristol City

If we're treating this game like a cup game, and also the final league game that it is, then losing doesn't look a likely outcome, according to the statistics of course.. Just one away midweek loss all season.

Looking at Cardiff at home midweek:

League:

Won Two: Leeds, Leicester

Drawn Three: Crystal Palace, Reading, Burnley

Lost One: Middlesbrough

All Games:

Won Four: Burton (Cup), Leeds, Leicester

Drawn Three: Crystal Palace, Reading, Burnley

Lost One: Stoke City (Cup), Middlesbrough

Pretty much nothing in it

Can you tell I just couldn't be arsed when checking my copy and paste form the section above.. Complete fail it would seem.

The point I'm trying to illustrate remains the same, we're not that bad away from home mid week.

Out of those I have seen us win at Everton, draw at Millwall and Sheff Utd and lose at Bristol.
As a result I think..............................

That anything is possible

But we're not bad away from home full stop. You have to look at it as a one off cup game away, and you only have to look at Brian's record (Liverpool, WBA, Everton all away).

If Leeds away is included, then QPR home should be as well. And leave this sort of thing to the legend that is Strap!
