I thought he got all the big calls spot on. At the risk of quoting Fergie and getting an FA fine - TOP REF!

'greed. Lot of refs would have bottled that pen but if you saw it on the telly he was watching what was going on with that very early on.

Big up to Shane for running across the guy and making sure he couldn't get goal side of Mills.

could have given a pen for Legs challenge on Bothroyd/Chopra early on. Could have given a penalty for Griffin hugging Chopra, could have given a penalty for a handball as well I think. Got all decisions right, but all were close enough it would have been hard to criticise for giving it.

Could have ruled out Shane's first goal for handball - would have been extremely harsh, but he could have done.

Superb refereeing display.

I tell ya I was a bit concerned after the job he did on Sunday for Liverpool and Tottenham but he was aces today, as I expected him to be. Tbf the teams made his job easier. Both teams played it straight up with very few dangerous tackles/dirty play...

Top reffing, not overly officious and let the game flow.

Got the pen right, the Cardiff claims were really long shots grasping at straws.

Also used alot of common sense with some of the tackles....instead of going straight for the yellow...he just calmly awarded the free kick, had a quick word with the player and acknowledged the foul and then let play continue...none of this am-dram card waving at the slightest of contact and then the 20min lecture, like so many of his fellow refs...consistent throughout the whole game and deserving of his tag 'the best ref in the land'

Your was much more clear cut than any of the Cardiff shouts..and I don't think Mr Webb was to blame for the failings of the home goalkeeper or McAuff running through the defence as if he was Messi.

What was most noticeable is that he spent the whole game talking to players as individuals, explaining decisions, telling them to calm down, advising them if they were coming close to overstepping the line etc. Clearly won the respect from the players for this approach and far better from the jumped up little fuhrers who refuse point blank to engage in dialogue with players.

Strange how Bothroyd stopped diving and cheating his way to free kicks, Webb had him sussed so he stopped playacting.

Nothing irritates more than the referees' demand for "Respect" when so many are poor at their jobs whilst showing scant respect themselves for managers, players, supporters or the game in general. So, what a pleasant change it has been to see 2 decent performances from the official so far in these play offs.

In fact, I would go so far as to say that many of the muppets we see throughout the season would have succumbed to crowd pressure and given Cardiff 2 pens before Shanes goal and very likely produced a totally different result.

Top marks for Mr Webb.

He is the best ref in England by a country mile, no dramas, speaks to players doesn't act like a headmaster talking to children. A very controlled extremely professional performance from all the officials and the game flowed just shows what difference a top class referee can make to a game.

All the decisions right? Come on Ian. Griffin hugging Chopra was a stone wall penalty. And the others - well you couldn't really argue if Webb had given them.
