The Phil Dowd appreciation thread.

Thought he had a superb game today. Missed one or two minor things, but on the whole, he was excellent.

I thought he got as many decisions right as Chelsea won trophies this year.

..like the 2nd yellow for Kish for penalty ? :D ...thats not good, thats inept as he was for other decisions, where he forgot that football is a contact sport and players touch each other !

Yeah Kish was the one bad decision. Should have been off.

He didn't give our forwards anything, but he was not to blame for our defeat. Our comical defending was our downfall.

The ref got both pen's spot on, as well as all the other major decision on the day.

What was Kish's yellow card for?

Got both penalty decisions right, although should have sent off khizanishvili. But as said above, he gave the forwards nothing. There seemed to be alot of pushing the back of long and hunt. Where he seemed to give Swansea alot of smaller decisions, he didnt give us.

Most definitely not to blame for the defeat though and we could have had alot worse a ref.

Avon Royal What was Kish's yellow card for?

Being a giant willy. Borini knocked into Feds while the latter was kicking out (for which he was booked) so Zurab decided to chest butt Borini, for which he was also rightly booked. Idiot! Start of a very poor few minutes for the Georgian.

Has there ever been, in football league history, where no foul has been awarded to one side for an infringement on an outfield player in (if you include the 3 minutes extra tiem at the end of the first half) 52 minutes of play.

Our first foul was on 49.33 seconds.

Blows the "accusations" of a conspriacy of keeping Welshies out of the water.

I thought Dowd was a fat piece of s**t and his performance today diabolical.

Sent off: Tabb [sub] (foul and abusive language HT)

Must admit never heard of anything like this either!

I'm REALLY interested to hear exactly what went down there. We very well could have used Tabb in the game, so if this turns out to have been at all dodgy..

They climbed over our forwards at every aerial challenge and we never got a free kick where as Dowd gave them everything. The ref was terrible, even neutrals would say he was useless given the bottling of the penalty/ 2nd yellow decision.
Watching the replays though - Dyer seems to lose the ball and they both go for it neither getting the ball. If you're going to give that why not give the pen for the ball to hand a few minutes earlier against Tate? It wasn't like he was a few yards from the ball he could have got his hand out of the way.

Never mind ay - an extra 8 games to enjoy.

They may both have been pens but for both he missed what should have been our free kicks just before each eg the blatant handball on the wing before the first pen. He wasn't great but at the same time I don't think you could EVER attribute our loss to him. As someone says the reason we lost was our comical defending (not for the first time this season).

Hunt chased a lost cause to byline and went to cut it back - It hit the defenders hand which was down by his side but made no attempt to move it despite having time.

The ref was shocking today, gave nothing our way what so ever!! Obviosuly the FA had received a sizeable amount of money from the Welsh FA to let one of their teams play in the Premier league.
Have to say that they got lucky today and the press need to watch the game again as I certainly didn't see Swansea playing like Barcelona today!!!

So how do you explain that Reading had the major decision go for them? Zurab should have been sent off. Dowd did ok - got the penalties correct - a few niggly things he missed, but don't all refs? Webb certainly did you favours in the 2nd leg against Cardiff, so swings and roundabouts if you feel hard done by today.

Sorry ..both penalties were questionable...I was worried when I saw who was reffing..the ultimate big time charlie who needs to be the centre of attention

and determined to ensure that he decided the outcome of the game...not the players.....the worst kind of referee unfortunately.

And how did he expect the reading bench to react after his first half showing..they got 11 free kicks to our one which he really had to give..

Not even big enough to take the flak for that in such a big game and basically today...

A CHEAT

(but that is what we would have got every week if we had gone up as Blackpool found out.)
