Finances

by Snowball » 03 Jun 2011 14:28

I'd appreciate it if this thread did not turn into a battle over Madejski.

That's not the point of this OP.

I'm just wondering what extras/changes we have.

Elsewhere I asked:

Does anyone know what the PO Final is worth to RFC?

We have a few "extras" this year

PO Final 85,000 * 60? = 5,100,000 less Wembley's costs and FA cut. Is that two million to the club?
2 x PO Semis
Man City Away
Everton Away

The sad loss of Chris Armstrong releases a wage, Mooney releases a wage (or 50%, say).

If Shane goes, that should be 3.5 Million at worst and (theoretically) up to twice that, and his (higher) wages gone

Best Estimates (to be updated)

I realise these may be way off.

IN

4.0 Million Sale of Shane Long
2.0 Million Play-Off Final
1.0 Million Man City FA Cup
0.7 Million Everton FA Cup
0.3 Million PO Semi

8.0 Million

Wages saved.

5K per week (Presumed "extra" Shane was earning")
6K per week (Mooney and Armstrong)

Other Possible Transfers

2.0 Million Mills
1-3 Million Kebe
1-3 Million Federici or McCarthy
0.5 Million McAnuff
0.3 Million Howard

As I said, not looking for argument, just best-estimates of the AMOUNTS,
trying to see where we really are, what we THEORETICALLY have at our disposal.

You could, of course, drop irony, drop sarcasm,
drop fighting stances, drop factions, and try
to actually answer the questions.

For example, we might get as little as 750K from the PO Final, or as much as 4 Million. I really do not know.

Does anyone?

Didn't the price of the hot dogs go up last season as well? That must have brought in a few bob.

Ok. How about does it really matter? Do we get a say in how the club runs its finances? What will happen is what SJM has done for the last few years. Make sure that the club is as self financing as possible. If this means that future player sales are required then player sales will happen. Quite frankly, who has any idea about the actual running costs of Reading FC? There is more to putting on a football match than getting 11 blokes on a pitch. So whatever money the club has made during the season will be used within the club.

My understanding was that 50% of the play off final revenue goes to the clubs and, traditionally, the winners give their share to the losers. So if we take an average ticket price at, say £55, 55 X 86000 = 4.73m, divided by two = £2.36m

We also get 12.5% of gate receipts from the 4 semis, say £20 X 20,000 = £400,000, X 4, X 12.5% = £200,000

Plus TV Revenue and FA Cup TV and performance revenue

Fact is, there would be a number of budgets that would have been worked on based on whether or not we would have been promoted as well as the number of season tickets sold. The club would also probably factor in that with the likes of Southampton and Brighton coming up, the number of visiting supporters will be considerably higher than would have been brought down by Preston and Scunny. So trying to second, or third guess what will happen is an exercise in futility. Perfect for HNA? then.

That's interesting that the play off winners give their share to the losers, never heard that one before.

Not trying to be funny......Just want next season ASAP so we can put right what happened on Monday. As a rule of thumb we seem to spend 20% or so of any transfer fees we get in. The rest goes on being "well run".

Whoever is here when we kick off we have a manager I trust and the nucleus of a good team. The finances are what they are.

You failed to take into account all the costs of staging the match which are deducted before anything is divvied up. Also there was a lot of kids and OAPs in attendance at the playoff which will reduce the average ticket price a fair bit.
