RTGs v STGs

by SpaceCruiser » 16 Jul 2011 14:43

I've always had the perception that there is too many negative people on the team board all moaning about one thing or the other. From Mr Madejski to the ambition of the manager/player(s) and/or the ability of certain players. I'd like to see if my perception is to be proved as correct.

So, please vote which camp you are in:

RTG = Rose Tinted Glasses
STG = Shit tinted Glasses

After 30 days we shall see....

Where's the option for realistic people who weigh up every situation based on the evidence they see and make an appropriate judgement.

Dirk, "realistic" is a bit subjective as people sometimes think they're being realistic but sometimes come up with the wrong ideas.

For me, there's only two camps. I think you're mostly in the RTG, Dirk.

STG and proud of it. Been around too long and seen too much to be anything else. Happy with it, though. Expect the worst then anything better than that is a bonus. It's the English Way.

Look to the best for the future, worry about the worst for the present.

The chat roomers will know I'm always worried about something going wrong or the tide turning (or not as the case may be) in a game. But in terms of how the club is run and our prospects I'm positive. Even when I thought we weren't going to make the play offs last season because we didn't seem good enough, I didn't think that was a particularly bad thing or cause for much complaint.

Frighteningly I thought only last night that I'd like to see a poll showing the RTG/STG split on here (with no fence sitting). Personally, I'm more of an RTG myself.

Oh and it's 'are too many' not 'is too many'. :wink:

Same here.

Don't need glasses to see what's going on.

That makes zero sense. So only RTG's or STG's come up with 'right ideas'?

With a sense of reality and with perfect 20:20 vision, I can see that the last ten years or so has been the best time to be a Reading fan. There has been nothing said on this board by the unrealistic and half-blind STG's that could change my mind. I am, without the slightest doubt, an RTG - and proud of it!!

Completely agree.

I have spent around the last 25 years living in Nottingham>Derby>Leicester. I have experienced the 'who are ya' mentality for the first 15 years from fans of all of these clubs. These are clearly all big clubs with big histories, admittedly not so much Leicester. It's great now to be at least on a par with these three, if not in an even better position going into most seasons.

And wheres the option for both?.....I think you'll find that most football supporters have rose tinted glasses on when their team is doing well and when they're not doing so well.......... you do the math!!
