Royals on the Box/Internet Thread

by Stuka » 02 Aug 2011 16:54

So I gather on 22 October, Reading v Southampton (5.20pm) is to be televised on Sky.

Anyone know of other televised games planned yet?

Apologies in advance if this has already been covered.

We don't inspire high ratings.

We don't have a long and distinguished history, or a large, dispersed supporter-base that can't make matches - nor are we reknowned for our sexy, free-flowing football.

Agreed. I feel pretty uninspired whilst watching our turgid brand of football, and I'm a supporter. Sod wanting to sit down and watch us with absolutely no affiliation whatsoever.

My point exactly - can you imagine someone who's not a Reading supporter saying "I must rush home tonight, Reading are on the box...."?

Ah, the classic RFC fan inferiority complex kicks in. To be fair, why would you expect midtable fodder like us to crop up on the schedules more regularly?

Was tongue in cheek. I don't think the media hate us really. In fact I know plenty of RFC supporters who work in the media.

Glad we're not on the box with the stupid kick off times. Plus the fact if we're on the box it increases the visibility to some of our embarrassing performances.

By the way, nice to see the BBC showing 8 different teams in their first 4 games even if they are mainly the "bigger" sides.
