This is a huge move for Williams. Red hot down there and it suggests that he can in the future step up the Championship and be a decent player. Bad loan spell could suggest he's not up to the professional game, although I imagine he might get one more chance.

I expect somewhere in the middle and a career for him in League 2. Possibly League 1.

one more chance? he's had injuries since he's been here and the manager admits it's been tough on him. the loan is a great opportunity for him to get some games and goals at a pro level, and at a club creating chances. but to suggest if he has a bad loan he might get one more chance seems very harsh. i can see a couple of loans this season, or this move turning into a season long loan deal and then review his progress next summer pending another loan.

lets not forget simon church. a product from our academy who had numerous loans in L2 and L1 and couldn't hit a barn door, yet still gets chance after chance at this level. the club is fair and gives everyone a chance. sometimes frustratingly so.

Scott told his club website, "Brett is a lad who was at Eastleigh and Brian [McDermott] signed him from there, but he is someone I have kept an eye on.

"He is a good size, over six foot, obviously he is untried but this is an opportunity for him to be involved in league football. He is a goalscorer, he is quick, strong and I am sure he will take to League Two.

"They really like him at Reading. I went to see Reading a couple of times at the end of last season, I know Brian [McDermott] and all the staff well there, and they all hold him in high regard."

Hopefully Rotherham are picking up all his costs, in which case this is a good loan move with no downside.

Brett Williams could make his debut tomorrow live on Sky against Swindon. He's taken the number 10 shirt Le Fondre had. 12:15pm.

45/1 Rotherham to win 1-0 Brett to score.
60/1 Rotherham to win 2-0 Brett to score first.
50/1 Rotherham to win 2-1 Brett to score first.

Just for you lot.

new signing revell scores on his debut. he's the direct replacement for le fondre, so brett has work to do to earn a starting place. pretty awful standard of football so far.

I really want Rotherham to go up this year, their fans had a lot of nice things to say about us so I hope they do well as I hope does Brett.

shot on target from williams. looping cross met with a good jump and header straight at the keeper. positive start for the football league debutant.
