Sad times for old Elm Parkers

by John Madejski's Wallet » 24 Sep 2011 22:18

Len Crook, landlord of the Spread Eagle between ~1970-1990 passed away today.

Big up to the man that got you all p*ssed before the games and happily kept Robin Friday's alcohol level topped-up (well until he barred him anyway!)

very sad news. three generations of my family enjoyed pints under len's landlordship of the spread, and now a 4th generation drink in there too.

last orders at the bar please, last orders at the bar.

Sad indeed. Another bit of our heritage passes away.

According to The Hound (unofficially!), didn't Billy Whitehurst sign on the line for us in the Spread?

Always used to be a good place for pre-match chats with opposition fans ( prior to the tribal nonsense of latter years ) Also played many a happy game of darts there when my pub team was in the same league and was always guaranteed a good spread put on by Len.
R.I.P.
