Tricky Run to 2012

by SWLR » 18 Oct 2011 11:53

Let's all play Prediction:

When I looked at the fixtures at the start of the season I thought we had an easier run of fixtures at the start and would need the points on the Board  ahead of our next 12:

Derby - H - L
Scum - H - L
Pal arse - A - L
Trees - A - L
Brum - H - D (whose the pesimist)
Cardiff - H - D
Tractor Boys - A - L
Posh - H - W
'Pool - A - L
Wet Sham - H - L
Leeds - a - L
Gay boys - H - W

So that's 8 points and relegation zone going into the New Year, with a cup run to save our fortunes.

Will it make a difference to our pending mid-table finish? Nope.

FWIW I'd rather play the better sides than the unpredictable and difficult sides in the bottom third.

Durgghh!

Like the League I almost won in 98/99, and was on course after 9 games in 00/01to win and then lost my password and had to use a new login and the lost the continuity.
Of course in those days people were listed by their names rather than hiding behind aliases, from where they can make cheap comments.

Do you add the same post to every weekly match forecast. No. So FONewbie.

Why the hell are Southampton referred to here as 'scum' :| . Reading fan inferiority chip has kicked in, no doubt. Does anyone remotely think that we appear on Saints radar as far as rivalry goes? :|

I'm sure there are some smaller clubs who can't stand us when we don't give a rats arse about them. Fair play to them, we can be slightly bemused and they can enjoy themselves.

I can't stand Saints, because the bastards spent years fighting off relegation from the top flight and getting all the local media attention despite being crap. And for thinking they were far better than us and moaning about it when we beat them 1-0 away and then proved ourselves to be far superior to the entire division.

What's the point in being a football fan if you can't irrationally dislike other teams and create meaningless rivalry to keep yourself amused?

0-0 it was. Tbf, they played us off the pitch that game and must have wondered what all the fuss was about.....until we smashed them 2-0 later in the season 8) . We normally tend to beat them anyway.....remember successive cup ties at EP in the mid/late 90s.

I prefer to irrationally dislike football fans 8) . Joking aside though - Southampton >x1billion Pompey.

Used to think they were much of a muchness, but thanks to Pompey's financials I'm with you on that one. TBH I'm struggling to sustain the Saints hatred now I think about it...

I think it was more Nigel "Relegation" Quarshie that I had the gripe with, mopaning that they were a far better team than us despite being something like a point a game behind us at that stage of the season.

Quite like Southampton, always good for a laugh, years battling away as the underdog in a small ground, only to oxf*rd it all up the moment they moved to a stadium big enough to house their own South Coast billy big bollox sense of self worth, only to oxf*rd it up by getting relegated twice and going into administration all at the hands of a bloke called Rupert who made his money out of old people's home and did stupid things like employing a coach from completely different sport.

Personally have plenty of reasons to hate "The Saints".
Living in Southampton, having to put up, week in week out, about how fantastic the team is, such a big team, even when they were sh!te.
This season is the worst yet with the "going back where we belong" stuff after each win.
Unless we pull something out of the bag, next week is going to be intolerable.

agreed with Ian that football is all about irrational "hates". OTOH agreed with Floyd that Saints>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Pompey.

Obviously I'll hate Southampton on Saturday, which is a game I (the world's biggest RTG) think we'll lose.

In our league I "hate" Pompey and, erm, yeah defo BHA. Worst two by a mile. Leeds maybe next, but one of my best mates over here (an Irishman) is having a tough personal time and supports them passionately, so I wish them well at the moment. For Pat.

I remember when Southampton used to advertise their home games on the back of the EP.

It shows how we have progressed as a club that they no longer bother..... :)

Forgot about that  . F*ckers :x . Although LOL @ being in the top flight, in a 15,000 stadium and having to advertise 40 miles away for fans

From Despair To Where? Quite like Southampton, always good for a laugh.

Any team which fields Francis Benali on a regular basis for a decade must have a good sense of humour, yes.
