Roberts and 606

by LoyalRoyalFan » 26 Jan 2012 18:30

As you may know Jason Roberts presents 606 on Saturday evenings.

Do you agree with this? Is it good for a Reading player to be presenting a nationwide radio show? Maybe we can get some extra coverage?

Why on earth should a Reading player not present a radio show??? It is none of the club's or anyone else's business frankly although it would be a bit disappointing, not to say embarrassing, if Roberts became a professional morris dancer.

The fact that he presents it doesn't bother me in the slightest, adds a bit more interest to the show for me now.

I remember when I use to DJ every Friday, that I would not work as well, thinking what am I going to play tonight, I was at a desk and not running around a pitch.

How can he talk about sport, when he's been playing, oh what happened today, "I dont know, thats why you're the expert on the phone in".

Don't mind him doing it, as long his #1 focus is RFC, I reckon he'll stop doing it now

I thought he was just covering for Robbie Savage. Only did a few programmes when he was playing. Not played for a while because of a contract issue.

He was on Five Live's Monday night club this week. Came across very well, I thought. Much better than Savage. The Beeb seem to like him, so that's fine with me.

I think it unhindered Savage on the pitch. But everyone's different. It doesn't seem to worry him at all, seems a naturally relaxed type.

I agree it could be an issue. The establishment at the mad stad hate public airing

I would be slightly more concerned if he was getting drunk and assaulting women in night clubs, talking about football on a BBC radio show is pretty much inoffensive and harmless, though those of you who remember David Mellor may argue to the contrary.

lolwut

He is there to talk about football, something he already knows about.......how can he think about what he is going to say on the show, when he doesn't even know what the phone calls are going to be about?

Jason Roberts is very good on 606 and has had many debates with Blackburn Rovers fans on air. So hopefully there will be more discussion about RFC in the coming weeks if RFC supporters take the time to ring the show.

Considering the club's last foray into the media was Lita's face I see this as an improvement.

Jason will be keeping his 6-0-6 place, be interesting to see how it's going to be handled by the BBC though - whether he is still there every week or only if we have a home game or whether he's shipped into some local BBC studio.

It's a disgrace that my licence fee should go towards a mere championship player's wages

Didn't do Murts any harm - mixing radio with playing that is. Just good for the profile of the club. Win win as I see it.

Bloody hell I'm paying for Murty as well and Adie Williams! How things have changed since the days of Maurice Edelstone....

With the team ethic McDermott always strives to create and maintain, I really can't see that he is going to be happy to see Roberts dashing off after a game just to be on 606 (even if they do arrange a local studio).
