Reading Wagers

by moo » 28 Jan 2012 10:19

How do we g about getting odds on RFC to qualify for Europe within the next five years, win the champions league in the next ten etc?

You hear about these long running bets all the time in the papers, but where do people place these and find out the odds ?

Go into a bookies, ask them to quote the odds for you - they will ring head office etc, faff about, and give you odds.

One of my friends has just placed a bet that his son will play football for England by the time he's 21. In that case, I think you have to write directly to William Hill or similar. He got 3500/1 - worth a tenner I thought?

Seem to remember Chris Kirkland's dad doing a similar bet

save your money and don't bother with cl. europa yes - possible and tsi have said this is their target, but champions league never going to happen. that would require even further investment from more investors.

I used to do some IT work for Ladbrokes and they have a team whose role it is to come up with odds for this type of thing.

I went into Coral in August and asked what odds I could get on a goalkeeper to score during this Premier League season. They guy phoned head office and they told me they wouldn't give me odds for it.

The only person who celebrated Tim Howard's goal less than me was Tim Howard.

This is like the old "hole in one" bet, you can bet on a hole in one in the open

just as you CAN bet on a goalkeeper scoring in a PL game

BUT......and this is the hard part......Name the .....Goalie....golf player...etc.

when you asked "Coral" IF you had named the goalkeeper that you expected to score

and how...i.e...from his own penalty area....or from a corner, then they may have offered a price.

or you could try W Hill see previous post.

His name was John Banks

He was a Glasgow bookie and used to operate as a rails bookie at all big meetings,

sadly he passed away about 9 or 10 years ago so looks like you are on salads

or would you like a carrot cake recipe?

Why not save time looking these things up and simply wipe your bum with twenty pound notes next time you have a dump.

LOL @ how excited you're all getting because some bald bloke you'd never previously heard of shows up at a press conference promising the earth.

Most places should give you odds for most things - I remember hearing about that Liverpool fan who had a bet on Alonso scoring from halfway and got a sh*tload of cash from it! Just found the story on it:
