FourFourTwo - Best and Worst Foreigner

by Optimist » 08 Mar 2012 15:41

Anyone who has read FFT this month will know they've selected a best and worst foreigner (Non UK or Rep. Ireland) for all 92 FL clubs and the 12 SPL clubs. If you haven't seen it, here's ours:

Reading

BEST: Dariusz Wdowczyk - 1994/98, 93 apps, 0 goals.
The Polish left-back reinvented himself as a ball-playing centre back at Reading, and was key as they got to within a saved penalty of the Prem.

WORST: Elroy Kromheer - 1998/99, 12 apps, 0 goals.
The lumbering Dutch defender took to English football like clogs to a woodchipper. He reached a nadir in a 6-0 home defeat to Bristol Rovers.

Other Ex-Royals:
Rotherham Best: Shaun Goater
Southend Worst: Louie Soares
Stevenage Worst: Eric Obinna Chuckwynyely
Tottenham Worst: Grzegorz Rasiak

Do you agree with ours? Personally I'd choose Ingi over Dariusz, but I'm struggling to think of anyone worse than Kromheer. Any thoughts?

Mass Sarr. Desparate times called for desparate measures and the expectation was enormous.

I think we always knew Kromheer would be shit.

Best, Dariusz for ability, Ivar or Bryn for longevity and contribution to the club.

Haha! Yeah they made the point of saying if someone was born in the UK but played for another country then they counted as foreign. But tbh I didn't know Soares had international experience  :o

Fae by miles tbf. Cost bazillions, played about 6 times and was shit on each occasion.

No arguments with Dariusz as the other choice but Ingimarsson would've been my shout given his length of service, 106 season, played in the prem etc

Yeah I think there was something on the OS about it a couple of months ago. Can't remember why, some strange injury I think.

Best - Shaka (odds stacked against him succeeding and came here at a time when foreigners were generally a rarity)

Worst - Mihailov (given his pedigree, the fanfare when he signed and his subsequent attitude)

This. Was gutted to miss his first goal.. long time coming. I'd also perhaps have to say Tony Rougier..
