Brighton was moved?

by royalsroyalsroyals92 » 08 Apr 2012 20:47

Sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere.
I was adamant that Brighton was meant to be tomorrow at 3, and now I've realised it's Tuesday night.
When and why was this moved?
Thanks!

I also had the impression it was tomorrow until I checked earlier. Strange :?

I downloaded the fixtures to my calendar, and its flashed up for tomorrow, but obviously it's changed according to everything else!

I think that the police insisted on it. They aren't able to cope with Bank Holiday and football. A bit like we never have a home game on the weekend of the Reading Festival

Would rather be playing at the same time as Saints and West Ham to be honest.

If they both win it puts a bit more pressure on us.

Seaside resorts don't have football matches on a Bank Holiday. Leeds Utd supporters ran wild in Bournemouth one August Bank Holiday a few years back. Absolutely trashed Bournemouth over three days.

Pressure is motivation. Brian manages that better than any manager outside the top flight. I would rather have the extra two days rest over this busy period and no what we have to do on Tuesday. For tomorrow I am a Brummie!

So why did we play Blackpool on Easter Monday then in 2008?

No, Brighton is still where it has always been, adjacent to Hove actually.
It is only the fixture which was moved.
\pedant mode.

Apparently they had the option of Fri/Mon or Fri/Tue for the bank holiday games & Poyet contacted McD to suggest the Fri/Tue option.

50/50 as to whether it's now a advantage given Sky have moved the Saints game to Friday but after the hammering by Leeds I suspect we picked the right option....

That's a joke right?

Moved on police request as bank holidays in Brighton give them enough to worry about without a football match to attend to. Was moved literally as soon as the fixture was published.

I read it on a Brighton forum. Could well be bollox but there's a quote from Poyet on there. Apparently Mowbray got the arse about it. You're right though - bank hol is more likely the reason.

I've known about it for ages

Sauce wuz err ah Fixtures365.com I think it were

Not always first w/news of fixture rearrangements but pretty quick on the uptake

For the longest time after it got moved to the Tuesday, Soccernet didn't have it on their list at all

Which kinda sucked when I was sat here thinking, as one will do between games, "Okay, we got how many left? And how many in April? How many of those in midweek? And how many at home and away?" etc and looking at an incomplete fixture list

I knew I remembered reading something about this - it was moved on 24th June 2011

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=107400&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=fixture+moved&start=20

This is an email I received from a BHAFC supporting ex colleague down in Brighton, giving the reason why our game was switched...

Speaking to the natives, this particular switch is because Brighton is now a place which is fast becoming the protest capital of the Uk! (In fact. The green council came out to actively encourage protesting in the city (against central government)). Of course we local tax payers don’t mind picking up the cost of policing all this – over £1m a year on top of our council tax....Tossers!
We have marches for this , that and the other virtually every bank holiday now (last Easter Monday there were several on the sam day!) so I guess the police would be spread too thin if there was to be a football match on the same day.

Anyway, enough of my rant – that’s apparently the reason for the switch.
