Two totally different seasons

2005/06 a bolt out of the blue with relatively unknown quantities....(that went on to impress in the PL)..manager with a proven track record

2011/12 slow burners and OAP's reinforced by a brilliant January acquisition.....an honest manager

I'd call evens.

Anyway, so what ....were going up (again) :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

The thing with 2005/06, by January it was just a matter of "when" not "if" we were going to be promoted.........this season, in January i was happy with finishing in the play-offs

This season just edges 2006 for me. In 2006 we knew it was just a matter of time before we were promoted, but this has come out of nowhere.

Still hasn't really sunk in.

Amazing night :D :D :D

Thoroughly agree with the sentiments but there can only be one first time.

I'm less pissed but just as emotional.

However the only difference really is our poor start this season. The rest has been very similar...arse busting win sequences, a scrooge like defence and crazy wing play. The Reading way.

Couldn't think of a more appropriate thread than this one....

Reading. Premier League. Again.

I can't believe it.

The highs & lows since I first went in '93 were numerous and often; Freezing Tuesday nights in Oldham, Sunderland & Bury. The defeat to bottom of the league Macclesfield in a 15 game losing run. Lovell's double against Stockport, Curo's chip, Colgan's 'OG', Peter Van Der Kwaak, Kerr's screamers, Tommy Burns fan forum on the South Bank, relegation against Forest, Wembley, Cardiff.

It's all worth it.

But even in my most hopeful, youthful (at the time) eyes did I ever think Reading would reach the Prem in my lifetime. And they've done it twice.

Football and I have fallen out of love over the last decade (save a Tuesday night at Leek Town when I'm doing bugger all else), but tonight I kicked every ball on that field, felt every tackle and wished I had been part of it.

Good luck Reading, Brian McDermott, Anton Zingarevich & John Madejski. The players, the fans.

URRRZZZ!!!

IMHO 2006 was better, those scenes at Leicester will live with me forever.

Tonight was frustrating cos I didn't know the West Ham score, and it took an age for the scoreboard to tell us!

Still the pitch invasion was great!

PLEASE, folks. Let's say it now.

Next year will be tough.

Remember what these players have done for the club.

They have massively over-achieved. Week after week after week they
have stepped up to the plate, fought like heroes (not exaggerating), and the
second-stringers, not one, has let us down... and the owner has reminded us
that deep-down, quality values of prudence and common-sense CAN win through,
and a portly bald guy with not the slightest Billy Big Boots has ground out what to
my eyes is an INCREDIBLE achievement for management, selection, education and
leadership.

Now, all of you, remember tonight, and when it gets sh!tty (which it surely will)
remember what these guys have done, what this club has done.

To be fair, I'd be happy to 'do a West Brom' .

Stay up & TV money or Relegated but you still have your squad. Take the parachute payments, add a player or two, promoted.

They must be pretty well off now by this basic system.

This time I'm sure Gorkkssss and Ledge won't be discarded and have their chance to play in the prem. I can see us adding 1 or 2 players but essentially give the current team a shot as they've earned it.

Still choking on Kebe's goal celebrations with Ledge.

We all waited a lifetime for 2006. This feels like the second time round the track, although it's less expected and an awesome achievement.

This all over. We snuck up, nicked the promotion off others who felt a god give right for auto (naming no names - the graceless pcunts), or have pressured a team who have dominated pretty much all this season with West Ham. Get promoted Southampton and the job is done.

Icing on the cake. I loved the supporters reactions at West Ham, Soton and of course the pitch invasion on Tuesday. For me not being able to be there in person is offset by seeing all of you being able to go mental. 8)

Can I mention that TWICE I got the right game for promotion, from all the possibles, though most thought no chance by last night. Same as Leicester, tickets trickled out, then suddenly when it dawned the demand could not be met. Gkad it was a game thjat we did it, wish could have been sat there with my old fella RIP.

still ecstatic, but managed to sleep.
