Disadvantage with m'boro playing at 5.20

by teignmouth hoops » 19 Apr 2012 09:09

By the time M'boro kick off on saturday against saints their play-off hopes could be gone as they are 4 points behind Blackpool (home to Burnley ko 3pm), Cardiff( h to Leeds Ko 12.30) and 5 behind Brum (a to Brighton 3pm)
This could potentially give them nothing to play for but pride, whereas had they ko at 3pm the playoffs would still be achievable

Personally I think Saints will be disadvantaged as they'll be 6pts behind us by this time, rofl

No disadvantage. As far as I'm aware there's still three points on offer.

Fair point teignmouth. I suppose turning things around the other way if one or two of their rivals slip up Middlesbrough could be reinvigorated by the door opening for them.

At the moment I fancy Southampton to win that game anyway to be honest and in a strange way I won't be too disappointed if they do as I dislike West Ham so much I want to make sure they can't get automatic promotion as soon as possible. Although winning the title is just a bonus it would be nice to win it again though.

It's a good point but I think 0-0 at home to Doncaster in front of 14,000 on Tuesday suggests Middlesboro are a busted flush this season anyway so I doubt the result will be different - comfortable away win.

This can cut both ways - with the pressure off they might play better rather than worse, wanting to put on a good show for their fans and also prove that they're good enough to their manager for next season.

Re. the 0:0 vs Doncaster - you should see the highlights; they absolutely battered them, but without scoring ... a bit like the Coventry defeat to Milwall ... something like 17 shots on target, but the Donny keeper was in inspired form.

If they have nothing to play for then they wont have any pressure - look how shit we played on Tuesday knowing we HAD to win.....we limped over the line

Fact is, its in our hands - not Southamptons

It's not a good point.

Palace have nothing to play for and had they still been an issue West Ham face Leicester who are already on the beach too.

The fixture list and TV schedules are what they are. Deal with it.

Having an 8.00 kick off on Tuesday ended up being a massive advantage to us. It would prob have finished 0-0 id wed kicked off at the same time. So no complaints from me, but i think at least the last 2 weeks, maybe 3 should all take place at the same time.

And throw into the mix that Birmingham will prob be resting their whole team next Saturday. Id say weve got a pretty good deal.

We will beat Palace 3-0 and will beat Birmingham 2-1. Job done. Southampton can do whatever the hell they want.

We played Brighton after West Ham had played Brum. None of it matters!

Boro didn't have much pride when they played us. Why do you think they will have any against Southampton?

If you don't like strange kick off times you won't enjoy next season.

Would agree actually that the last three games of any club's season should NOT be televised if it means having to change the kick off time from the rest of games in that club's division
