McDermott - " I want to manage Ireland"

Not really the sort of news you want to hear when you've just been promoted to the Premier League. Shows a lack of respect to the club and the fans.

Well let's see...if he can get us into European play within a couple years I am sure Ireland might consider him for the job when it opens up. And under those circumstances who could begrudge him that move?

It's just his long term ambition. Fair play to him. He will need to prove he's worthy of consideration first. And how will he ever do that? Run a successful team in the premiership for a few years perhaps? May be after a decade of top flight football with rfc Ireland may come knocking. Til then chill out

Just saying, he has the chance (with the right backing) to build a legacy at Reading and become your 'Fergie'. But, no - he wants to manage Ireland.

Only a year or so late, how have you missed all the uproar this has caused amongst our fans in that time?

He's spoken about this a number of times now, but it's something he's always said he wants to do in the future.

Not your best material, NFA.

Bless you for looking out for us though, it's quite sweet really.

It was in the Metro about a month ago m9. Wouldn't trust the local papers for exclusives if I were you.

Doesn't matter. It's still relevant what I've said. When Fergie took over at United, do you think he said "My ambition is to manage someone else".????

Of course not - these things are best left unsaid.
