Despite the Premiership windfall and Antons millions, are we the lowest spenders in the transfer window!

But success correlates with wage spending not transfer spending so this may be irrelevant, and we certainly can't tell at this stage where we are in the wage hierarchy.

We cannot at this stage know whether the lack of spending it clever use of players available 'on a free' or 'penny pinching'. It is the Reading Way and if it works is the best way forward.

What does spending money have to do with anything...until, yesterday we were up there with the most active clubs in the premier league. we should be glad that we are being prudent with the money rather than becoming a Leeds/Portsmouth

westendgirl But success correlates with wage spending not transfer spending.

Success correlates even more to the amount of points we get each season. Which is all i care about come the final whistle at Upton park in May.

....will be interesting to see how Southampton fare this season as it looks like they will have spent near to £25m by deadline close if the rumoured deals in the pipeline are completed....

Good I don't want us to be all megabucks suddenly and disrupt the harmony that Sir John and instilled.

It is absolutely clear that even after three games that Pog, Guthrie and McCleary and a cut above anything we have had before. Whether this continues is anyones guess but I expect it will.

http://www.transferleague.co.uk/football-transfers/reading-transfers.html

We have spend a net £4.6m apparently.

The first team I randomly clicked on were Everton, who are over £8m in profit due to the sale of Rodwell.

OK - they spent more (£4.5m on Pienaar is £1.5 more than they sold him for?!), but their net spend is over £12m less than us.

Given that some of our "freebies" are canny signings worth millions (and probably got millions for signing!) I conclude that the OP won't be happy until we p1ss £££ away on Hollywood signings so we might feature on the front of his Match magazine with the gheyer speech bubbles they do: Van Persie - "Greedy bastard Rooney! Who the f*** are Reading?" Rooney "Shut your mouth and look at my wad"

I think our net spend is even less at 3.26M.

We have added the following to the squad:
Garath McCleary – from Notts Forest (Championship) on a Bosman free transfer
Pavel Pogrebnyak – from Stuttgart (Bundesliga) on a Bosman free transfer
Danny Guthrie – from Newcastle (Premier League) on a Bosman free transfer
Pierce Sweeney – from Bray Wanderers (Ireland) for a fee of - £60,000
Nicky Shorey – from West Brom (Premier League) signed on a free transfer
Adrian Mariappa – from Watford (Championship) signed for a fee of - £2,500,000
Chris Gunter – from Nottingham Forest (Championship) signed for a fee of £2,300,000
Stuart Taylor – from Manchester City (Premier League) signed on a free transfer

But we sold Mattieu Manset (aged 22) – sold to FC Sion (Swiss Premier) for a fee of £750,000
Michail Antonio (aged 22) – sold to Sheffield Wednesday (Championship) for a fee of £850,000

Net spend £3,260,000 and we most likely got another £800K sell on fee for Gylfi on top.

Having said that Guthrie, Pog and McCleary all look like great signings - so who cares if we did it on the cheap.

It's obviously a deliberate persona... every post oozes with effort to get just the right lack of punctuation, poor spelling and words in the wrong places.

It's just whoever was wumming as 1TeaminBerks last year.
