First Game

by RoyalWire » 21 Nov 2012 09:02

I have managed to get a ticket for the Wigan game on Saturday...can't wait.

I've been to the JJB (DW) with the rugby. Anything to bear in mind for the football?

Ummm, not sure. Have you been to a football game before? Differences to rugger: home and away fans are segragated, no alcohol allowed within sight of the football pitch (so inside at the bars only, can't bring into the stand). Erm...that's about it. Don't sit down if possible and sing along with all the songs (they're all fairly simple!)

So how are you finding supporting Reading then? If i remember correctly you drew team name out of a hat from the top two leagues? Do you wish you had picked a team that wasn't going to be in a relegation scrap? Or has our inability to convert draws into wins and our plucky underdog tag won you over?

NO PITCH SIDE BEER??????!!!!!?????

I'm really enjoying it, I've watched nearly all of the matches so far online or on Sky. I think we're not doing too bad and that some people are panicing a tad early witih regards to being relagated.

The relagation battle side of things isn't a problem for me. Most of my time supporting Warrington has been spent watching a poor team, only recently have we become succesful.

It's been good to have a team to see me through the rugby off season and I've definately taken to it.

How do you guys intend on getting up here?

A measure to prevent football violence I'm afraid.

Trains, planes and automobiles.

Well 2 of the 3 anyway.

Glad to hear you're enjoying it though. Stick with us and don't get disheartened if we do go down. The Championship is more competitive, cheaper and has more games.

Also on a plus note, Wigan is a happy hunting ground of recent years for the rugby, so hope this will transfer to the football too.

Reading 2 - Wigan 0

There are just so many things about the OP I don't understand that I don't know where to begin.

Blimey. Do you secretly wish that your randomly selected team hadn't been Reading?

No, it's been good really. I'd much rather this than an mid table, nothing ever happens team.

As soon as I drew Reading, I knew that one way or another it would be an eventful season fighting to stay in the PL. If we get relagated, so be it, I'm happy to take the rough with the smooth.

But I dont think that it will happen.

That's true, we haven't really had a boringly mid-table season for a while now.

Reading normally play in Blue and White. But so do Wigan. Please do not get them confused.

Reading will be the team in yellow for this game.

HTH.

The DW is on a par with Vale Park for the most soulless stadium I've visited. Wouldn't go back unless it was a do or die match.

Don't expect any atmosphere. This could be the lowest Premier league crowd of the season? Although QPR may have something to say about that. Hope you bring us some luck enjoy the game.
