The Financial Impact For Next Season

by savage 4 england » 17 Dec 2012 23:24

Right, it's highly likely now we will be going down.

No bitching about BM in this thread. I just want to get the views of how relegation will impact us on the financial side. Obviously, there will be a lot of uncertainty regarding how far AZ is willing to stretch.

I'm aware that we will now receive four years worth of parachute payments as opposed to the two years worth we received previously. I'm just a bit uncertain how this compare to the last time we went down. Will this enable us to challenge?

I can see us losing a few players (Morrison, Pog, Guthrie etc.), but it won't be the firesale as last time..probably because no one will want any of our players.

To be honest I expect us to bring in a few younger players on the cheaper side.

I am hoping we can get a nice chunk of cash for Morrison or Pearce & then completely overhaul the squad.

Hopefully £ wise it won't be too painful.

To sustain premiership football. The ground capacity has to be increased to boost gate receipts.

Couldn't give a toss about the financial impact, much more concerned about the confidence of our players and happiness of our fans come the end of this season!

Hardly - gate money is much, much less significant than TV revenue.

We're in great shape according to BM last week, plus we get 4 years parachute money as well. Wages will come down with relegation too, just as they go up when promoted. We're all good.

Some first teamers will go, obviously. Pog wanted a release clause and probably got it. Guthrie has no future here under BM. Hopefully Federici will go and McCarthy get the shirt. Quids in for us! The rest of the side looks decent for the Championship tbf!

Someone has tweeted that Ady Williams has said AZ is trying to take out loans against Premier League income. Not sure if that's got any substance to it, or what the money would be used for..

But there was lots of empty seats tonight, to sustain premiership football, you have to play premiership football, simples

I actually hope that we concede relegation early on, and not throw too much money towards aging mercenaries in January. One or two additions for the future will do me fine.

Pog will go, Guthrie would probably go also, so that would be two huge wages off the bill.

Federici will have a blinder of a season now, and he will probably go.

If we keep the nucleus of the squad we have right now, we will be very competitive next season in the championship.

The one thing I do worry about is our depth. The bench against Sunderland was very worrying.

McDermott has proven that he can win the Championship. The worrying thing for me if we do go up again, is if he learns from his mistakes this season.

Well we'll be in a better situation than if we didn't go up, so in the long term it has to be a positive. The hope is (if we do indeed get relegated this season) we can do something similar to WBA and yo-yo between the leagues to build towards a sustainable stay in the top flight.

24,125 is practically a sell-out.
