The blame game

by floyd__streete » 18 Dec 2012 13:14

Well, back in the summer I said that if we were going to go down lets at least have the drama and intrigue of an acrimonious season. So who do you think is the chief culpit?

Ideal Scumbag TSI failed to provide any substantial funding for transfers, and burdained us with that lump of shit russian who doesn't fit in our style of play whatsoever.

Can't agree more with this. They obviously were not serious about staying in the prem.
Although I don't think pog was a bad signing.

No funding aye?

£5m on Gunter and Mariappa. McDermott bought the players, he takes the blame.

Calling him a lump of shit just because he doesn`t fit our style? he is a good player, but just not for us.

I don't even include Hammond in this. McDermott is solely to blame in my opinion for failing to adapt. Yes our team clearly isn't good enough, but don't expect them to magically come good and start outplaying teams. We should've been playing 4-5-1, grinding out boring draws as a worst case scenario. Not being embarrassed week in week out.

What else is he supposed to do with 5 million in this day and age? Its very rare to get a good premiership player for 5 million. So the next best thing is to spread the money out over a number of players that are a lower level, hoping they can handle the prem.

Chris Samuelson and TSI are driving down the value of the club so they can buy the remaining share off SJM on the cheap

Only after SJM is out of the picture will we see any reinvestment or (more likely) a quick sale

Everton fans must be so jealous

^ This x 1000. He did the best he could, got Guthrie, Shorey & Pog on frees, Gunter & Mariappa so we had cover at each position. How did he know Guthrie would moan like a little girl and kick up a paddy whenever he doesn't play?

TSI so far have been full of shit!

Why say you want to be an established top 10 club in 5 years time when you invest oxf*rd all in the first team. How is that objective ever going to be achievable if you don't invest. The club are openly saying they will never invest big. These are the reasons why we've NEVER had any success as we've always had this small club mentality. DELUDED.

Ok fair enough you want to focus on CAT 1 and the majority is spent on achieving that goal. But that is a long term objective and it will not make you become a top 10 club in 5 years. The CAT 1 EPPP thing is for future players in 10+ years time. SO SPOUTING SHIT ABOUT STADIUM EXPANSION ECT

Both Swansea and Southampton smashed their record transfer fees this year in an attempt to stay up.

I'm not saying pump £30m in like Southampton but I would say a transfer kitty of £15M is completely reasonable. The £5M McDermott spent our current players is good business, then £10m on two players that would give us that extra consistent quality. Yes you have hidden costs such as agent fees and wages but so will every other club.

TSI - simply haven't walked the walk to the extent that they have talked the talk, have left us an inadequate squad and are already preparing the ground for a frugal January 42%

Brian - has failed to integr8 the new signings he could make into the Reading ethos and, as a result, is playing a Champinship side in the Premier League 30%

Guthrie - been a bit of an arse though I have some sympathy with him in regard to how he must feel about not being able to be picked ahead of Leigetwood & Tabb 10%

Federici - damaged the team spirit when dropped and has been, in the main, shit, costing us several points 8%

The rest of the squad - they are, clearly, the worst squad in the division but they are underperforming even that benchmark 7%

Federici's missus - grassed about Federici's tantrums, thereby further undermining team spirit 2%

The Fans - bleating at the lack of success and the general low key mood at the games doesn't help 1%

I reckon the 25 day gap between games coupled with Federici's bizarre loss of form is what started the rot.

Never mind the goal against Stoke, if he'd kept out Gary Cahill's very saveable effort at Stamford Bridge then we may well have left with all three points and the season would've turned out differently.

We then had the huge gap which meant we had to go through the whole first "game of the season" thing again and turned in an abject performance against Tottenham. It's been downhill since there.

Clearly the biggest problem has been the failure of any of the summer signings bar Shorey to establish themselves as regular first team fixtures.

Then like a runaway snowball the problems have grown to the extent that the team look beaten before they even start matches these days.

Never see a mention of Nigel Gibb on any of these threads. Does he have any input or just say " Yes Brian-442 is the new way! " Seem to remember fortunes changing when Pards got rid of Martin Allen. Perhaps a new , premiership experienced coach would have an effect, not necessarily Wally Downes

Can we not just have an option of "the circumstances". We don't have money or players or experience or proper fans. We are oxf*rd. No-one's fault. You can't just compete, the club just can't. It's not always someone's fault.

McDermott.

Tactics and Selection are the main reasons why we are in this mess.

If we brought in a CB; not a masisve issue just another CB to put Gorkss down the quality pecking order just a shame not McDermotts*, LB, CAM and a CDM in January than I think that is all we need but whats the point in buying them if McDermott not gonna play them and fall out with them?

Most of the time I would say players fault but not this time.

none of them,

not players fault they just arent good enough.
not mcds fault, his players just arent good enough.
not antons fault, he just couldnt afford the huge investment required to make the squad prem worthy in the summer.

Should never have sacked Brendan Rogers in the first place.
